I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at GE in August 2010.

Interview Details – I initially applied either through GE's own site or Indeed. Initially contacted by phone. I was bit confused about the position since the title of the position was for one thing but when I arrived for an interview it was for a different product. Although both involved manufacturing engineering it threw me a bit in the interview. The interview involved touring the grounds while being asked questions which involved basic problem solving and questions that someone with the required background would know. Facilities seemed typical for the position and employees were friendly. Offices were a bit dreary, no windows, cubicle farm. The interviewer was very polite and knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Also answered follow up questions after the interview.

Interview Question – Various questions about things outside my field of study   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter and the process took a day - interviewed at GE in May 2008.

Interview Details – personality questions, business scenario questions. The trick was that you must use previous experiences to explain the questions. There can not be I will do this and that. It must be from past experiences. The interview was an hour long and had many questions. They interviewer was very nice and patient with me when I couldn't answer the question at the moment and allowed me to continue the answer at the end of the interview

I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at GE in March 2009.

Interview Details – Talked to them early in the job search process and was impressed enough with the quality of people I met in the interviewing process that I cut the rest of my job search short and accepted without running the full search that I expected. They were thorough, smart, selective, and asked pressing questions to test my skills.

Interview Questions

  • Describe your weaknesses in your field of expertise (electrical engineering).   Answer Question
  • What are the biggest challenges you expect to face in the job.   Answer Question

I applied through other source and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at GE in October 2010.

Interview Details – It was a long process, several interviews with a number of people within the organization. I was very persistent with follow-ups as it seemed like they were "hot" and "cold" with the entire process. It is a big company and you never really know what they are thinking when they decided to go into non-communication mode.

Interview Question – Understanding where we are organizationally, what changes do you see us needing to make in the next 3 years to overcome the tide of security issues companies are experiencing?   Answer Question
