Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 3 days)
Coming from one of the best universities and labs in the world, I felt that the lab head who interviewed me had a bit of an inferiority complex. Without any obvious reason, the interviewer was dismissive, rude and kept interrupting me. The questions were not tough, just irrelevant.
This was the fourth round of interviews. Even though, I was told I 'd have an answer in two weeks ,I had to wait four weeks before they decided to answer my emails negatively without any feedback.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took a day)
It starts with an email from the recruiters stating that you have been chosen as a potential hire and if you're ready for an interview. The phone interview usually takes 1 hour and revolves around your background. The on-site interview is very comprehensive, but you won't be bored as you will meet interesting people.

Interviewed Feb 2010 (took 2 days)
phone interview...and then one-day onsite interview.
For phone interview, the hiring manager called without making an schedule, explaining the company, job, etc. Later, another phone interview with his colleagues are scheduled two days after. Three people are interviewing me at the same time. No difficult question, just follow the resume and ask for your strength.
Two days later, get one email for on-site interview.
For on-site, start with a presentation with my phd work and following with technical and behavior questions.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took a day)
The hiring manager just asked a lot of technical questions about my historical research experience. Since I did those things by myself, they are a piece of cake. I hate behavior questions because you never know if you have the best answer.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Niskayuna, NY (took 3 months)
Hiring process is very lengthy and they do not bother to inform you about the result of interview on time. It took them one month after each interview to get back to me and they do not reply to your emails. By the time last interview was done and I got the offer I had few other offers, therefore I rdeclined it although I was very interested in working for them.

Interviewed Mar 2009 (took 3 days)
My profile was picked up by the hiring manager from online portal and I was called to schedule an telephonic interview. The telephonic interview went for about 45 min. after which I was told that they would contact me later. After couple of days, I was asked to come at GE Global Research center to have HR and face to face technical interview. I went to the center on the schedule date and the interview got over in 2-3 hours. After few day I was told that I have been selected and then the salary negotiation started.

As far as IT job goes, GE GR is not a good paymaster. They initially offered me same salary that I was having in previous job. Even though I wanted to be in the job due to the Oracle Apps functional and managerial profile they were offering, I was not ready to sacrifice salary. Finally I agreed with 10% hike and 1 year bond.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Niskayuna, NY (took a day)
For B. S. level candidates, dinner was provided the evening prior to the official interview date. During this time, interviewees met with managers and the technologist who would be leading from interview to interview the next day. Casual conversation was made and candidates were evaluated personality-wise and interest-wise. Each B. S. level candidate interviewed the following day with 5 separate individuals including the hiring manager, Human Resources, and 3 technologist for technical and non-technical interviews. Candidates were also given a tour of the facilities and shown presentations of previous work completed at GE GRC and also intended new technology paths. The general atmosphere of interviewers throughout the full day seemed rather informal with technologists while formal with hiring managers and HR.
