Interviewed Oct 2009 (took a day)
The ECLP program did campus interviews through my school. They gave a company presentation and took candidates out to dinner the night before the interview. The GE representatives were very friendly and professional. All of them talked about how they often work long hours, but also about how rewarding the program has been for them.
There were two interviewers that asked basic resume/behavioral questions. The interview was very focused on me. They were not interested in teamwork or team results, they were only interested in what I specifically did; also, they were not very interested in the situation I was in, but only on the actions I took.
Sample questions were:
- Give an example of a time when you had to deal with a tough team member
- Give an example of when you had to influence upper management
- Give an example of when you led a team

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 3 weeks)
Contacted by HR with basic questions sort of a phone filter - did not know anything about facilities or position. Then contacted by Manager for 1:1 phone interview about 2 weeks later. Interview was less than 1/2 hour and I was asked availabilty for a follow up in person. Manager seemed knowlegable. I was not available the during the suggested time. Have not heard back

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took a day)
I was sent an e-mail with 16 majority Technical questions !!!!! Unusual to me!!!
One was salary expectation and one was will you relocate without any relocation assistance? I said it depends on the offer and I like to relocate.
Second interview was phone interview came from same HR lady who said what if I give 10k more and let you work from where you live !!! I was thrilled to hear that !! I said that can be great !!!
She said I will check with the Manager - Again very unusual !!!!
Two days later I got an e-mail rejecting the offer...
This is my 3rd time different ways of rejection but every time tricked by the HR. I was willing to take the job and willing to relocate as well !!
GE will be my very last choice from now on since any biggest outsources employers are my very last choice.

Interviewed Apr 2009 (took a day)
I was contacted last minute by the GE recruiter to interview for the job. I am a dual degree of ME and Business, this turned them off. The interviewer was definitely looking for technical driven people who see this as their calling. Unfortunately, that isn't me. Also, I wanted to work in Energy which wasn't been interviewed for.

Interviewed Mar 2009 (took 4 weeks)
I had initially one phone screen and then two interviews over the phone. I was then invited in for a panel interview. The HR person started off the interview with an explanation of the process and the steps. A couple of the people did most of the talking and the others took notes.

Interviewed Feb 2008 in Dallas, TX (took 2 months)
GE's interview process works as follow's:
-Submit resume through GE Career System
-Phone Screen with HR Generalist (this person normally knows NOTHING about the actually position, they are simply listening for buzzwords outlined on the piece of paper in front of them). The intent of the phone screen is to determine if the resume contents are legit and you are worthwhile of an interviewers time.
-Panel Interview with Hiring Manager and a peer or two of the hiring manager. These interviews are behavioral in nature and revolve around questions related to the GE growth traits. Some of these might include:
Give an example of a time when you had to independently lead a critical project and resolve a difficult problem.
Tell me about a project that you led that required the involvement of people from various areas. What are some of the challenges that you faced? How did you overcome them?
-One over Interview with Hiring Managers boss. If you make this interview you are probably in the final two. This interview is also behavioral in nature and your answers should be exactly as stated in the Panel interview. This interview is normally conducted via phone.
-The offer. The hiring manager will call with a salary offer. They will low ball! GE offers notoriouly low salaries, but counter.
-The Counter. The hirinc manager will call back with the counter to your counter offer or acceptance of the counter.
-HR finalization. HR will email you 5000 documents and tell you when you to show up to pee in a cup for your drug test.

Interviewed May 2007 (took 5 weeks)
Interviews were held over 2 days with appx 5 one on one interviews. The questions were generic and fair. Nothing difficult was asked.
I would advise you are prepared and know the company well. Interviewers love questions about themselves and the business in which they run. Stay away from salary!

Interviewed Jan 2007 (took a day)
The interview process was a 2 stage process. The first stage was a group activity for all the applicants where they had to make a presentation as a group. Based on this activity, candidates were shortlisted for the next round. Shortlisted candidates first had a technical interview. This was more based on IT knowledge and work experience in the prior organisation. If the candidate was successful in the technical round the next round was an HR interview that discussed location, career preferences etc.

Interviewed Feb 2008 (took a day)
Originally applied and was selected for interview. Held 1 on 1 in a very personal type of interview. Detailed work environment (team oriented) and asked questions to the character of the employee. Integrity, examples of different important work experiences. For the most part was a very laid back type of interview, and a real attempt was made to allow the perspective to be comfortable.
