Interviewed Sep 2011 in Erie, PA (took a day)
Have worked for the company for many years and decided to transfer to another business, therefore the interview may have been different than those given to outside candidates. The most important peice of advice is to be honest about who you are and your qualifications. Do not try to be someone you are not. This company has a reputation to secure, so maintain professionalism, even for hourly jobs, and if hired and given a chance, prove to be worthy. You must work hard and quality is key. They hold you to high standards, anything less will not be tolerated.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took a day)
A pretty average interview. Was at the end of the day with two interviewers who both seemed kind of burned out by the time they got to me. Lots of questions about projects I'd done in school and teamwork. Questions about coursework and previous jobs. I don't know if I'd have got it or not as I accepted a position with another company and withdrew myself from consideration.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 months)
I got an email from GE on a Friday for an On-Campus interview for early Monday morning. The interview was extremely lame in that they asked no questions that would indicate how strong a candidate would be in a technical role. All of the questions were, "How do you work with others?", "How did you react one time when you had a deadline?", and "How do you deal with a group member you don't like?" The answers to these questions will be how they base your candidacy against several hundred applicants for the same positions, so keep that in mind.
The part that really bothers me though, is the response time and communication. At the interview, I was told it would take 4-8 weeks to hear back about a second interview as the recruiter had to visit at least 3 other schools to find candidates for the same position.
Since he said 4-8 weeks, I waited about 6 weeks and had not heard a thing from the recruiter, so I decided to email him asking about the position. Keep in mind that I was contacted directly, and not through my school. He responds saying that I am not getting a second interview based on GPA and he did not contact me because I didn't apply through the school system and that is his normal channel of contact.
So basically, I get a contacted directly via email for an interview, have an interview with them, wait 6 weeks where I was putting other offers on hold because I was waiting to hear from GE, to be told that the recruiter waited to contact me because email wasn't a viable option of contact, even though that was how I got contacted in the first place. Unbelievable.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Piscataway, NJ (took 2 weeks)
I was an internal candidate. I sent an email to the hiring manager, requesting an informational interview to learn more about the position. We both agreed that it was a potentially a mutual match. I formally applied online and was notified within a week that I would have an in-person interview. I interviewed with 3 people total, focusing on my background/work experience, fit with the position and the division, and a brainteaser-type case.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Stamford, CT (took 2 weeks)
There's an on campus interview where you basically were asked behavioral questions. The program is considered prestigious and lots of corporate leaders come from it. The interview process is actually very interesting. Other recruiters I've talked to tried to make it a conversation but this recruiter actually asked a question and kept typing in things. She said later she would attach it to my profile online and be reviewed by other managers. They do try to get back to you asap and not hold you up too long.
The behavioral questions sometimes try to reach some hard topics to see if you can think on your feet such as ethics and values. But it gets easier towards the end with they why questions and backgroup chitchat later.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Erie, PA (took 3 weeks)
Consisted of only 1 interview that was very standard and did not test knowledge. Situational questions (a lot of "can you tell me about a time when you..."). Those questions are pretty easy to answer if you are prepared.
