I applied online – interviewed at GE in December 2014.

    Interview Details

I sent off my CV and Cover Letter for the position and within a few days was asked to complete an online Talent Simulations test. After completing this, I was invited to a telephone interview which consisted of motivational and competency questions. I would advise to develop and rehearse answers using the STAR technique.

    Examples of questions asked were:

    a) Why GE and what can you bring to us?

    b) Tell me about a skill or language you have taught yourself and how?

    c) Describe a challenging project you were involved in.

    d) Describe your Microsoft Office skills.

    Interview Details

In my case I've been contacted by different headhunter, from abroad, and after a first selection (2 phone calls and a face to face interview) I got in touch with company's HR. Then I had a face to face interview in an Italian city, in order to be shortlisted and, finally, I had face to face meeting in UK with BU's manager. In total from February to June. Then it took from July to September to have the contract. This part was quite incredible

Business Management 12 Month Placement UK Interview

I applied online – interviewed at GE in November 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online via ratemyplacement. If you pass then you are asked to complete an online behavioural test, you are given situations and you have to say what you would do in those situations - multiple choice. If you pass that then you get a telephone interview, you are given a decision within 5 days. Then you have a face-to-face interview at one of the locations you chose with a hiring manager.

    Interview Questions
    • Telephone interview was pleasant, easy questions, lovely interviewer. No unexpected trick questions. I had 2 motivational and two competency based formal questions, the rest were just confirming your course details and location preferences etc. Why do you want to work for GE? What are your strengths? Give an example of a problem you experienced and how you overcame it. Give an example of a time you have had to learn something quickly. Remember to use STAR technique. Had an email a few days later to say I'd passed, waiting for a face-to-face interview date.   Answer Question

    Mechanical Engineering Interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at GE in November 2014.

    Interview Details

Found job advertisement on the GE site applied with a standard CV and covering letter. Shortly after I was invited to complete online physcometric test, this consisted of a series of business scenarios and choosing out of four potential responses, what would be the most and least effective.

A few days later they scheduled a telephone interview with me, it consisted of motivational and competency based questions as well as asking me to talk about my degree and IT skills.

The questions that I remember were as follows:
    - Why do you want to work for GE ?
    - Can you give an example when you have faced a problem in a project and how you resolved it ?
    - Can you give an example of when you have had to learn a new skill ?
I'm sure there was one more competency question but can't remember it.

I was very confident in my performance in the interview but unfortunately they did not continue with my application.

    Interview Questions
    • I was expecting them to ask why I wanted to work in this position but they only asked about wanting to work for GE which I was expecting but had done more research into the specific position and plant I would be woking in rather than GE as a hole.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at GE in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I was called after applying directly to GE on their website. I was asked what about GE attracted me to apply and was told after that I would get a call within two weeks. The following week I was invited to a (first) face-to-face interview with an Engineering Manager and Design Engineer at GE Intelligent Platforms. The interview process consisted of a number of questions about me, and some technical questions. The interview lasted about an hour. A third person, a mechanical engineer at GE, was also present. I found the interviewers to be friendly, and it was never intimidating at any point. It was a difficult interview, but a useful one, I found.

    Interview Questions
    • I was presented with a number of technical questions on heat sinks. The questions involved some fluid dynamics, manufacturing, and basic mechanics.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at GE in May 2014.

    Interview Details

Competed online application. Few days later had a surprise phone call from one of their recruitment team, we chatted for about fifteen minutes about myself, my degree course, why i was interested, basic stuff really, at the end of the conversation she invited me for a face to face interview. Face to face interview was arranged for the following week. Interview panel consisted of one HR manager, regional manager and one other manager. They asked me to tell them about myself, why I was interested, what I thought the job would ask of me, what I knew about the business area. Then came the more difficult questions which were to be answered with relevant examples; when have you had to deal with a difficult person, when have you made a mistake and had to rectify it, have you ever had a disagreement within a team and how did you resolve this, give an example of a time you have gone above and beyond what is required of you. There were other questions but i can't quite remember them,
