Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Filled out an online application, called the store consistently for a few weeks until I got through to the manager. Got a phone call within 5 days after that and was called in for an interview. Manager was really nice and friendly. We had a good conversation, and I said I was a quick learner and explained my background in sales, gym/workouts, and nutrition. Took a while to get called back, but got offered the job and accepted it.

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 2 weeks)
i submitted my application in mid-may, got a call at the end of june. this was the apparent "phone screening." the hiring manager told me she would be doing other screenings and would get a hold of me at the end of the week. i ended up calling her a few days later, and she told me to come in for an interview later on at the end of the week. i aced the interview, which is a panel of generic questions, and again she told me she'd call me within a few days. a week later i track her down (hey, i'm persistent) and she tells me when to come in and what to wear.

Something to go over before the interview at GNC:
# Tell me about a time when you demonstrated your trustworthiness or integrity in school or at work.
# Tell me about a time when you were working hard to complete a task and you were asked to leave that task before completing it and start a different job.
# Tell me about a time when you had to go above and beyond the call of duty to get a job done.
# Give me an example of a time when you had set a goal for yourself and tell me how you went about accomplishing it.
# Give me a specific occasion on which you followed a policy with which you did not agree.
# Give me an example of a time when you were able to successfully communicate with another person even when that individual may not have personally liked you (or vice versa).
# Tell me about a time when you improved a task or job you were working on.
# In what kind of a work environment do you do your best work?

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Las Vegas, NV (took a day)
I applied online and got a phone call for a 1:1 interview two weeks later. basic questions about background and experience in sales. 10 minutes later was offered the job.
Reason for Declining
it was a "part time" really its an on-call position when it said online full time position and during the interview the owner was really rude. 10-15 hours a week minimum wage. i'm not desperate.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Brooklyn, NY (took 1 week)
I already had experience working at GNC in the same location, so the interview just consisted of asking how I used to handle problems compared to how I would handle them now. Additionally, how my sales were and what can I do for the store. The hiring process when I first applied took only about 2 days. Paperwork was easier then and my manager was a SSM (senior store manager) so he had more experience in the process. Recently, coming back, the hiring process took 1 week and then after working for 3 weeks, I finally got paid. The manager at the time was inexperienced, especially with paper work.

Negotiation Details
If you applied for a GNC in a mall, be aware that you have to work until whatever time the mall closes and that can become annoying. Other GNCs close a little earlier and the employees have time to go enjoy life after work. However, if you work nights in the mall, but the time the mall closes, your "hanging out" options are limited. On the other hand, if it's in a popular mall, sales are usually higher and it'll be easier to make sales and make your commission.

Interviewed Mar 2008 in Seattle, WA (took 1 week)
Upper management reviews resume online. They will do a phone interview first, then determine if they want to do a 1:1 interview. At 1:1 interview, normally just you and the store manager. It normally takes up to a week to hear a call back.

Interviewed May 2008 (took a day)
I walked in to deliver my application and not less than a week later, I recieved a call to request an interview. The interview took place the same week and consisted mainly of sales based questions and what I could offer the company in terms of sales abilities. I interviewd once with the store manager for about 20 minutes, discussing the company, its goals, my goals, my abilities, and how I felt I fit the company's needs. By the next week, I recieved an offer of employment. The store manager was very knowledgeable about the store's products.

Negotiation Details
There was no negotiating pay. It was minimum wage plus commission, and there was no way around it. I have never been offered minimum wage, and considering my experience and qualifications, I was offended by the pay offer and that there was no way to negotiate it, but at the time, a job was a job.

I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.
