Interviewed Feb 2010 in Philadelphia, PA (took a day)
The interview took place on my campus and was very brief (lasted less than 30 minutes). The company had some representatives in the lobby and gave me a brochure going over the company and some of their job descriptions and benefits. During the interview, they only asked a few questions. They asked me to give examples of my experiences with leadership, flexibility, teamwork, and oral presentation.

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took a day)
The interview consisted of 3 GSA employees interviewing me at once. It was a little intimidating and they were constantly writing on their pads as you talked. It was a very shot interview and they only asked 7 questions. Most of them were behavioral questions which were not relevant the the position. I was thrown off about how general the questions were and how specific you should answer them.

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took 4+ weeks)
I interviewed for the Financial Management Specialist Program when GSA came to my campus. They held an info session the night before interviews and I thought it was really laid back and the people were really friendly. Because of the info session, I wasn't expecting the interview to be very formal, however, the interview was approx. 45 mins with 3 different people in the room asking questions. They were all behavioral questions, however, I felt like they were being rapid fired at me. Overall, I would say that they asked more questions than most of my other on campus interviews and was more intense than I was expecting. If you interview, make sure you have lots of stories that you can talk about in a precise manner. After the interview, they send a yes/no test of about 50 questions that is more skill specific. Overall, I heard back from them within a month.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Philadelphia, PA (took 1+ week)
Interviewed through college career services. When I arrived there were 3 recent employee greeters from GSA who gave me a folder with all the pertinent information about the positions and process of getting hired and answered questions in an informal manner. Then I had a 1:1 interview with someone who I instantly clicked with. She was very personable and easy-going. She tried to put me at ease right from the start. They have a form that they fill out throughout the interview which included 4 detailed questions. For one of the questions I had to ask her to repeat it because I wanted to stay on track with my answer which she said beforehand was OK. She said that it would take up to 3 weeks before I hear anything one way or another. In the info packet there is a link for testing that you have to take for each one of the positions you want to apply for with a 2 weeks deadline. They encourage you to apply for as many as you want, it doesn't hurt you. These were the positions: Transportation Operations Specialist, Realty Specialist, Supply System Specialist, Program Analyst, Human Resource Analyst, Contract Specialist, Business Systems Specialist, Bulding Management Specialist, Asset Manager, IT Specialist, & Budget Analyst/Financial Management Analyst. You start at a GS-7 and each year automatically move up another grade to GS-12 (year 4) at which point you have to compete with everyone else for a promotion. Philly salaries are GS-7=$41,383, GS-9=$50,620, GS-11=$61,245, GS-12=$73,408 (automatic raises unless you don't measure up) + goverment benefits. Interview lasted about 30 minutes.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Washington, DC (took a day)
All behavioral questions. I walked in and there were 4 people sitting there. They asked me questions about how I resolved a conflict in a workplace. What was my greatest regret since I started college. Have I used Excel to manage my bank accounts? <- Not sure what this question was about. And all of the typical tell me about a time when you.......questions. There was no questions about Finance at all. It was all behavioral.

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 6 weeks)
Started as a normal panal interview, about half way through it turning into the technical interview. The technical interview was planned for another date, Not sure if they wanted to just move forward to that step or they didn't inform the folks doing the technical side. Very unorganized, didn't shed a good light on the organization. They informed me towards the end that the position was not currently funded and they were not sure when or if that would occur, very disappointing.
