Gander Mountain Sales Associate Interview

Posted Jul 3, 2012

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Jul 3, 2012

Interview Details – The interview was based on discussion of product essentials. They were verifying my product knowledge as well as communications skills. Honestly, it was more of a discussion than an interview. After the first interview session with the HR person, a second supervisor came in for a brief meeting. That session closed and they said they'd get back to me. Called them a week later. They said they were working on it. This went on for 2 more weeks before they said to come in for the hiring paperwork. I was sent for a drug test, passed, and was hired.

Interview Question – Tell me why we should hire you rather than someone else.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Not really negotiation. It was decided before I got there, but they did seem to want me to feel like I could negotiate.
*Keep in mind, once hired you need to seriously become best friends with the people above you (unless you're a relative) if you want promotion. This is not a judgement; it's simply how it works.
