Interviewed May 2012 in Chantilly, VA (took 3 weeks)
Ok so I had an interview yesterday at the Dulles location. My interview was for 11:30 I got there at 11:15. The receptionist informed my I was too early, first off all as you can see from looking at the time I arrived 15 mins early, thats the norm for an interview. She told me to wait in the cafeteria. I could tell just by looking at the food that it had to taste just as bad as it looked. Then again its free lunch so why complain. A lot of the employees did though. So after waiting in the dingy cafeteria for over an hour, I went back to human resources to see if any body could interview me and then the receptionist informed me she forgot all of the managers were on vacation so she would have to interview me. How do you forget that all of the managers are on vacation but you're still scheduling people for interview. I came all the way from maryland which took 2hrs. Finally, I'm being interview and she informs me that the pay is only 9 for the porter and 8.75 for food services. People at Mcdonalds make more than that. That turned me off from the job right there. Gate Gourmet is also in the Union which is why I can't understand why the pay is so low with no benefits. Then she tells me even though you applied for the night shift, we may place you at any one of our four shifts and you have to work it. So basically she saying right off the bat we don't care about your outside life this job is your life. This was the worst interview I have ever had. I can't imagine how it is to work there. Just from looking at the employees there. their unhappy and sad. Many of them aren't from this country, so this might be there only option. The only english people I saw was in human resources. One of the employees told me I you start working here you might as well buy a carton of cigs, because you will smoke every chance you get.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Reston, VA (took 2 months)
You will go thru two to three phone interviews asking very similar questions. Basic question, why you are looking, why do you think you will be successful. Then they call you for a face to face interview. You have an opportunity to see how the operations runs...this where I should have seen the writing on the wall.

Interviewed Apr 2009 (took 3 weeks)
Phone screening and then an interview with my potential boss and the head of the department. Was a good conversation--they were very honest and up front about the challenges in the organization and gave me a clear understanding of what issues they / I would be tackling going forward.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 2 weeks)
after phone screen with recruiter and phone interview with hiring executive I had a face to face interview with the hiring executive and main internal customer executive. The individuals I met with were very professional and the interview process was a positive experience. There was a delay in getting feedback beyone the time frame that was explained however feedback was received (which is not always the case). The office setting was very disorganized and did not present a positve image.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Atlanta, GA (took 2+ weeks)
I contacted a corporate recruiter about a job posting and was contacted the next day by a recruiter in the Atlanta office. He asked the basic questions about my resume asking me to explain past jobs and functions. The next day, I was contacted again and a date was set for a one on one interview. I lived in another state but arrangements were made.
I arrived 45 minutes early and was promptly met by my contact. I was interviewed by three individuals, each separately working my way higher up the organizational chart. The first was a line level manager with a very "in your face style" of questions. He basically told me that he was very hard to work for and that I would hate him. He would call me at all hours of the night and on my days off and I better have answers for him. The second was (I forget his exact title) a Supply Chain Director that had worked at the company for 11 years. His interview was very pleasant. He had a very professional demeanor and had worked his way up having started as an hourly associate. The third was the Director of Ops. The Director said that he was busy but "wanted to make a few minutes for me". He asked three questions, tops.
Everyone that I spoke to (except for the "in your face guy" said "You are the guy" and "You will do great here".
When my recruiter was walking me out, he informed me that he "got the nod" from two out of the three, the director and the Supply Chain guy and to expect an offer very soon.
I stayed in constant contact with my recruiter for the following two weeks with each conversation pointing me to believe that an offer was being finalized. The recruiter even asked me if I had found a place to live and suggested neighborhoods for relocation.
Then one day, my email to him was rejected. I called and was informed that the recruiter with whom I had worked was "no longer employed with Gate Gourmet". It took me a couple of hours and numerous phone calls chasing an answer. In the end, a lady from HR called to inform me that I was no longer being considered for any open positions.
My wife and I had been packing boxes and making moving arrangements...
