Interviewed Nov 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 months)
It was an average experience. I was recruited from campus along with a couple other students from my University but nobody was offered a position. They are very professional but use recycled questions. The interviews early on felt directed and my interviewers seemed interested but all the interviews at headquarters seemed like I was wasting their time. The "campus" is very nice and it seems like a very comfortable place to work but not a top choice for innovative and self-motivated people. Their perks are almost unbeatable but they have to be due to their location. It seems like it would be a great place to work for a short time but the strength of the company is it's long running career track employees, some of which should be reviewed. They ask decently tough questions during the interview but no real curveballs. I was rushed between interviewers because they messed up with timing. Not a company I would want to work for life for and that seems like all they are interested in. Especially for people coming right out of a top University, I'd advise looking elsewhere for a more interactive and innovative first job. Very "kool-aid" culture.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Chanhassen, MN (took 4+ weeks)
The interview process at the manufacturing plant in Chanhassen, MN is a mess. After our initial phone interview the hiring manager said he would get back to me in 1 to 2 days. I finally contacted him 5 days later. From there an interview was scheduled for me to come on site and meet with him and 3 other members of the team. He told me 3 times he would send me an interview schedule. The schedule did not arrive until 20 minutes before the interview was to start and by that time I was already there and ready to go. In our interview he stated I would hear from him either way at the beginning of the following week (4-5 days). It's been almost 2 weeks now and I haven't heard anything back.

Interviewed May 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took a day)
Met the recruiter at my University, developed relationship. He called me back when there was an internship opening. I had a phone interview on a Tuesday and then they asked me to go in that Friday.
Got to the Headquarter at 7:30. Total 4 interviews. First two were Behavior, and the last two were technical. They had breakfast, lunch and coffee break for you throughout the day.
Very good experience.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 days)
Came to our school and interviewed for the first rounds. If you move on, then they send you out to the HQ for the final rounds. I got there on a Monday night where I was taken out to dinner with 2 GMI employees and 3 others who were interviewing for finance. Next day was 4 interviews throughout the day and met a ton of people. Advice:
-Talk to as many people as possible to find out stuff about company
-Pace yourself

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took a day)
I met with a recruiter at a career fair through my university. After giving her my resume and applying online, I heard back from this recruiter several weeks later offering me an on-campus interview.
The interview was very negative for me, and not just because I was not offered a position. My interviewer was running behind schedule, so she rushed through our 1-1, cutting me off on several questions and filling in words she assumed I would say. It was really frustrating and she was unprofessional, even asking me "are you Hispanic" because of my appearance and that I listed Spanish and Portuguese language skills on my resume.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took a day)
It was a two part interview: Behavioral and Technical. The behavioral part was pretty standard, but the technical were questions you either knew or you didn't. The technical was based off your ratings of how well you knew aspects of a language.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 weeks)
Met with recruiter at career fair and gave her my resume. They called me back for first round interview a couple days later. That was mostly behavioral questions with a couple business scenario and current event questions. The competition for that was intense but I made second round mostly by differentiating myself through showing passion for my current internship, jobs, and other activities. They are looking for a type of personality, which is basically a personable type A. Second round was incredibly intense. All day, with everything you can think of to do for an interview including case study and IQ. I enjoyed the challenge and I think that shined through. Good luck!

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Saint Paul, MN (took 3 weeks)
Got the interview through an on campus interview program. Started with asking why I want to work for GM and in this position. Quickly moved into rapid fire behavioral questions, and then a bunch of technical questions (all were the same as questions people on here said they'd been asked). Overall, the technical questions were pretty easy, but the behavioral questions were really quite tough, especially for a college student who doesn't have a ton of work experience. Anyways, the interviewers were both taking notes the entire time, and other than at the beginning, they did not make any eye contact. Even while shaking my hand as I left. It was a weird vibe. 3 weeks later I got an email telling me that I would not be moving forward.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 weeks)
It was a pretty standard interview. the interviewer started by jotting down some general information about me into her computer and then read from her computer a list of situational questions and asked me to respond. It was a little weird having her type the entire time i was responding but all in all it was a fair interview.
