Researcher Interview

Warren, MI

I applied through college or university and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at General Motors in September 2010.

Interview Details – I was approached for this position without applying. My resume was on the company's database, and they identified it as relevant.

Communication was very efficient, extremely courteous, and professional. The hiring and interview process was a pleasant experience.

Hiring manager did not know much about compensations and benefits. Was all up to HR

Interview Question – None. Interview is based on candidate's presentation, and one-on-one meetings with group members. They do the STAR interview for formality, but is not really taken into consideration in the decision making. At the end of the day, decisions are based upon the presentation, credentials, and people's opinions.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Very little room for negotiation. I ended up only getting an extra 5 business days per year of paid vacation.

I applied through an employee referral and the process took a day - interviewed at General Motors in October 2009.

Interview Details – I worked at General Motors Technical Center between 2004 and 2006. After that, I moved to another state. Last year I moved back. When I was contacted by a friend, who works in GM technical center, two months ago, and asked if i would like to work for him as a contractor. I accept the offer since it is really hard to find a full-time job in Detroit metro area.

Interview Question – No technical questions were asked.   Answer Question
