Interviewed Jun 2010 in Phoenix, AZ (took a day)
I received an unsolicited email requesting an interview. I applied online as instructed and scheduled a time. The interviewer was casual and pleasant. For reasons I can't understand, the interviewer determined rather quickly, that I wouldn't be happy working for Genworth. I was highly qualified for the job and prepared to pursue it further. I send a thank you note reaffirming my interest but never received a reply. The same position is still advertised. I found the whole process curious.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 1 week)
I applied to this program and after a week or so got a call from an HR woman wanting to phone interview me. She asked me very generic interviewing questions, like what are your weaknesses? I guess I did very well because she said she wanted me to do a technical interview with someone from the field I worked in the most. It was a phone interview once again by the way. The technical interview went horrible. He asked me some pretty advanced questions mixed with a few easy ones. Some were experience questions, like tell me about a really hardcore project you worked on. I was a little baffled because this is supposed to be a program where they train you, and it felt like they expected me to already know everything. It is a program for recent graduates but it seems they want you to have years of full-time experience. Received the thanks but no thanks email.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took 2 days)
I submitted my resume to their winter internship and got rejected. They kept my resume on file and called me for their full time finance development program. I set up a phone interview with the recruiter and it was very basic questions: why genworth, why [insert majors here], where do you see yourself in 5 years, what financial statements do you look at when evaluating a company and why.
Then went in for in person interview to Richmond (headquarters) where I had two panel interviews consisting of two people each. There were tons of fit questions and not really as many technicals as i expected. I did well on the technicals (but there were barely any, I had to bring them in myself) but the fits were hard especially when asked one after the other, such as " what two things do you want out of a job and what two things do you not want out of a job [they all had to be distinct]" and what company would you not work for and why?
Reason for rejection is prob b/c fit questions were tough, but prepare for those and this should be a pretty good company to enter into.

Interviewed Sep 2008 (took 2 days)
I was asked to appear for a written test first. After that I was asked to appear for in person interview where we discussed my experience with previous employers with emphasis on my previous employers. I realized that job didn't match what I was looking for and it was mutually determined that I was not the right candidate for that position.

Interviewed Mar 2008 (took a day)
I supplied a resume through a friend. I got a call three days later. The interviewer was from HR and was the first line filter, ensuring I understood the basic requirements and job responsibilities. Cordial, and informative. If I would have been interested in pursuing the position, my next interview would have been with the hiring manager.

Reason for Declining
The level of sales support was lower than I needed. I was fairly new to the business and didn't have a large client base, so I needed marketing dollars and leads. They were looking for a sales associate with many years of experience and able to support himself with his own leads. I recognized the gap, and politely declined any further interviews.

Interviewed Jun 2007 (took 2 months)
I applied online and was called two weeks latter to setup a phone interview with someone in the corporate office. We agreed on a time and day, so I took an hour out of my day to plan for this. However, the recruiter never called me the day of the phone interview...So, I called to confirm, I got her voice mail, so I left a message but she never called me back. The next day, I received an email from her indicating that they have put a hold on the position and will get back to me. Needless to say, she never got back with me. How unprofessional!!!

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took 3 weeks)
The interview process was long and was not something that I think would have been that long for the position that I had applied for and was at the office interviewing for. With that being said I think that the interview was fair but was much more detailed than I had anticipated.

Interviewed Jul 2009 in Lynchburg, VA (took a day)
After submitting my resume online directly to the companies website. A few days later, I was contacted by an HR person who did a few screening questions (birthdate, salary requirements, etc). Contacted a week later and an interview was set up. Interviewed on Saturday, along with several others. It was in front a team of 4. One person asked the questions, while others took notes. A lot of behavioral questions were asked. Ended with questions from me. And I left! Called on Tuesday and was offered the job.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in Lynchburg, VA (took a day)
I was an employee referral for an executive assistant opening. The initial phone interview was used as a screening interview. The next phase was with an HR representative. The interview was difficult and monotonous. The HR rep never varied her style or type of questions. It was strictly a situational interview. Based on her "What would you do if this happened" questions, it was my impression that the hiring manager was either difficult to work with or that I would be handling nothing but problem situations day after day.
