It's quite simple for international students. First apply online and send the supplemental materials to the school. While waiting for responses, email professors that you are interested in and communicate with them to impress them. That's it.

I applied online and submitted alll the materials they asked for, including TOEFL, GRE, transcripts, resume, personal statement and also recommendation letters. After they went through the first background check, the professors who were interested in your background would contact you and asked you a few questions. If he/she is satisfied, you would get an offer from them.

I took a test, diced an onion, talked about current news stories, described desserts and meals I have made. Interviewer was nice even though I was nervous. His employees seem to like him. The kitchen was very clean and roomy.

Had telephone interview with 2 senior people. Was then offered a trip down to interview in person. Spent the day interviewing with different people, including manager. 1 week later was told on offer would be coming.

An email was sent to all students. I attached my resume along with the email. After about 20 days I got an interview offer with a particular date and time. I prepared real hard on the semiconductor devices and also made a presentation on the current research topics of the prof. he was really impressed by this presentation.
