Interviewed Aug 2009 in Durham, NC (took 2 weeks)
The Gilead web site is easy to use and appears to be updated regularly. Initial phone interview was with HR. A second phone interview was one on one with hiring manager. Hiring manager used the *STAR* method of interview where you describe the Situation that you were in or the Task that you needed to accomplish, a description of the Action taken, and lastly, the Result. Overall the hiring manager was pleasant.

Interviewed Jun 2007 (took a day)
I met with 12 scientists in the department and gave a 45 minute presentation on my PhD research. Since it was an informational interview, the people I met with did not ask me job specific questions. The overall experience was positive, but it was a very exhausting day. I also got to have dinner and lunch with the group.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 4 weeks)
very insensitive schedule in one day. Had to meet all the future team members in one day with one hour presentation. The people over here were very nice and easily to talk to. Questions were general and reasonable. But bad impression with the HR representative. He was very hard to talk to and seemed very inexperienced. I didn't get any question answered by him and I would rather to read the company benefits by myself instead of dealing his rude attitude. It turned out the hiring manager did most of his job later.
