Interviewed Jan 2011 in Mountain View, CA (took 2 days)
I was first contacted by a sourcer who conducted an initial prescreen. Very basic info - what Google products do you use, what's your background, education, etc. Then, he set up an interview for me in the NYC office (I was home in New York), but via video conference with team members in Mountain View. The interview was supposed to consist of 3 back-to-back 20 minute interviews. However, during the first interview, it became clear that I wasn't a good fit for the RC (Recruiting Coordinator) role and I would be a better fit for a Sourcer role. After the first person finished with me, she found two Sourcers to come in and complete the interviews.
I was very impressed by Google's ability to turn on a dime and re-route me mid-interview for a role that was a better fit. About one week later, I received a call with an offer.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Mountain View, CA (took a day)
Applied through Google Jobs. Emailed a recruiter. Got an email back from a different recruiter the next day. Set up a phone interview for a couple days later. Tell me about your resume / current job / average day. Why google? What google apps do you like/use? Tell me about a time when..... questions. Few days later, got asked when I'd be able to come in for in person interviews. Had two separate 1:1 interviews. Lots of "tell me about a time when..." "why google" "why this position" "what makes you qualified", "what would you do if...". No crazy logic games or puzzles. Each interview lasted 1/2 hr. I thought it went really well, but they decided to "pass on my background" -- i think b/c I didn't have large corporate experience.
Interviews rated as difficult b/c they asked a lot of "tell me about a time when..." questions. Be prepared with examples of every possible scenario you can think of. I came prepared, but you gotta be on the ball.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Mountain View, CA (took 2+ weeks)
Everyone I dealt with was very friendly. The initial phone interview was pretty basic. Mostly traditional interview questions as opposed to behavior based ones (ie. Tell me about a time when...). The interviewer told me that I would hear back within a week, but it actually took almost two weeks for a response. They set a date for an in person interview, but did not give an exact time until the evening before, which was frustrating.
When I got to the building, other candidates for the same position were waiting for an interview as well, which made me a little nervous. They put each of us in a separate room where we were interviewed in half hour increments by three interviewers, one at a time. It was a very casual setting and at times I felt more like I was conversing with the interviewer than being interviewed for a job. I thought it went very well - one of the interviewers even said I was "a delight" - but I was not offered the job.
