Interviewed Dec 2011 in Naperville, IL (took 4 weeks)
Upon being contacted by a Graybar HR rep through indeed.com, I was impressed with how fast results were accumulating. It took less than a week and one phone interview to make it to stage 2 which involved a sales assessment & background check. After passing both tests, a face-to-face interview took place between myself, the Branch Manager, and a District Sales Manager who were both extremely friendly. We discussed initiatives, scope of the market, expectations for 2012, and the life of an outside sales representative leaving the mood in high spirits. It seemed a fruitful partnership was definitely coming together until the second interview with the branch manager where about half-way through I was told "Just remember, don't screw with me," which I felt was very unprofessional. Unfortunately this set the tone of who would ultimately be my boss and quickly decided not to pursue anything further with Graybar.

Reason for Declining
The pay was low compared to other sales jobs and was not thrilled with the direction of the company after number crunching their 2010 financial statement.

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 3 weeks)
I was contacted 3 weeks after submitting resume. There were five people in the interview and it was
apparent not one of them had read the resume. The questions they asked were answered in the resume.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Saint Louis, MO (took a day)
Pleasant phone interview which consisted of basic question about my experience and previous positions. No “tricky” questions with listing 10 attributes you possess in chronological order. Just honest informational questions.
Had an in person interview the following week. Unfortunately, they only had one time slot available for the interview and it was early the next morning. There was no HR interview, I only met with my supervisor. I was impressed that he read my entire resume, going back through four previous employers, and was prepared with talking points. The interview questions were casual.
I should also mention that I called the hiring manager on two occasions and she answered her phone both times.

At some point during the interview you will be asked if you have any questions - count on it. Be prepared to ask thoughtful and useful questions. Asking well thought-out questions will make you look good in the eyes of the person who is conducting the interview. Avoid asking me-centered questions regarding items such as salary and vacation time. These indicate that you might only be interested in money and not in making a contribution to the organization. On the other hand, good ideas for questions are: "What would my job duties include?" , "Is there a chance for promotions?" "What type of things would I be in charge of?" and many other related questions

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Saint Louis, MO (took a day)
Consisted of a meeting with the hiring managers within the department - each done one on one. Interviews lasted roughly an hour combined, but I never paid attention to the clock. Process was organized - a list of questions about past experiences and how I handled various situations. A lot of what they asked also mirrored the phone interview I had several weeks prior.
I was briefly told what the hiring process would entail, and that I would get a notice one way or the other. It's been some time since that review and I haven't heard one way or the other. I was tempted to call and leave a message for the hiring manager but I figured that would only make me look like a desperate woman in need of a job.
The office was extremely quiet when I went there. People seemed friendly, but would only speak if you approached them. I didn't want to seem too forward by asking any of them if they liked working there, but I've seen positive reviews on other sites. I got a wierd vibe about the office though. Sterile is a word that comes to mind - both in thought and interaction. The staff seemed muted, either because that is just the environment they work in or they were really busy.
