Interviewed Mar 2012 in Dallas, TX (took 1 week)
I applied to H&M about a month ago after the store I work at got a drastic hours cut, forcing me to look for another job in retail. A couple of weeks after I submitted my Resume and application I got a call to do a phone interview. It was very general questions, including what is my work experience, how much do I expect to get paid, availability, etc. I was invited back for an interview the following week. It was a one-on-one interview with a manager and she asked me questions about customer service, conflict resolution, and multi-tasking on the job. I gave specific examples and used my retail background to my advantage. She told me about opportunities, benefits, and bonuses within the company, which made me very excited. It lasted about 45 minutes and I felt confident about it, though I knew they had several interviews later that day. She told me I would get a call or e-mail from them in 3-5 days, and 4 days after I got a call for a second interview. Whenever I went in she asked me if I had any questions and then offered me the job, and said I would be contacted further for training. I recommend to anyone interviewing for this position or higher to have a detailed knowledge of the company and the position you applied for, because you will be asked questions about them. Also, I wasn't sure how to dress but I dressed business-casual and spruced it up with some fun shoes and accessories, which seemed to go over well.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
Friday was the day i applied for a sales assitaint job.it wasnt the first time i applied for H&M and was very shocked when i heard a reply so quickly. on the wednesday i recieved the call from the hr depatment and arranged an interview in 2days time on a friday which was exactly a week from when i applied for it .i turned up 15 miutes early but the store opened the exact time as my interview so i found myself waiting outside until i could meet the workers and find out where the interview will be.
I waited in the staff room for around 15 minutes whilst the manger setup i tried to have some friendly conversation with the staff there but was still quite nervouse.i finally got my 1:1 interview with manager and i was aked questions like
what qualities do you think an H&M sales advisor should have?
do you know about the H&M lines?
i felt pretty confident with all the answers i gave but i was worried when he explained that he a had another 6 people to interview and that he would be in touch with in a weeks time.he said he would contact either through phone call or e-mail
4 days later i recieved a phone call with good news that i had got the job.and i am now to start in a weeks time.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Burnaby, BC (Canada) (took 1 week)
I applied online via the H&M.com website, as there was an opportunity present for the new store opening up at Metrotown Metropolis in Burnaby B.C. Canada.
After a few days, I recieved a phone call in the morning from a Human Resources Recruiter. She basically gave me an interview on the spot, I mentioned that there was a Hiring Fair happening at the mall for the new store, she asked if I was planning on attending and I said yes. She told me that I didn't need to go as she would schedual me for an interview at the main office Downtown the following day. I accepted.
I went to the 1:1 interview, but since I had no clue which floor the office was in the building, (the receptionist at the lobby was absent, and no one from the office would answer the buzzer.). I went to the H&M store located right next door inside a mall to ask. A sales advisor brought me into the staff room to wait. It was nearly 30 minutes of my interview time in which I started to worry. I thought they had forgot about me, and was told that they were just setting up. When I had asked again, I was informed that I was supposed to be at the office next door. I basically explained that I was brought to wait in the staff room and I simply asked what floor the office was. Thinking I had blown my chances, the interview proceeded, and she told me to come back for a 2nd Interview the following week. It would be with the Store Manager for the new store.
I came today for my 2nd 1:1 interview (September 6th 2011) and was freaking out as I did not have time to print out another copy of my resume, cover letter, and references. I also planned on typing up a Thank You Note, but that did not happen. Feeling unprepared, I thought I ruined my chances. I noticed a bunch of new sales advisor were just hired as they were carrying folders for new staff members, and had just came in to hand in the required documentation. I also sat there waiting for my interview with others waiting for theirs aswell. I clearly saw they came prepared.
I proceeded with my 2nd Interview, was not bothered to ask if I had a copy of my resume, etc as they brought out the copy I gave during my 1st interview. After some questions, I was basically told that they would like to offer me a Part-Time position. Then, I began to fill out some documentation for them, such as Security Background Cheque, SIN information, emergency contact, etc.
I am to begin a 2 week training session this Thursday September 8th 2011, in preparation for when the new store opens next month (October 2011).

I didn't bother negotiating salary wages, though from what I've read, I heard H&M are pretty lenient in that regard. When asked about salary expectation, I essentially told them I had no expectations. Despite that, I was offered more than my last job anyway so im content because it wasn't minimum wage as I was expecting.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I applied online at H&M's website to be a sales advisor at two locations. Afterwards I received an automated e-mail saying that they are reviewing my qualifications. Seeing that I don't have any retail experience, and I applied numerous times before and was contacted the next day to know that I my qualifications didn't match the position I was applying for, I expected an answer the very next day.
It took two weeks before I received a response. Because I applied to two locations, I received two e-mails, one saying that my qualifications weren't what they were looking for (figures), any another stating that I should call the recruiter and set up a phone interview. I did just that, and the next day the recruiter called.
She seemed really friendly, and the interview was pretty relaxed. She seemed satisfied with my answers until I told her my availability. Due to religious practices, I am not able to be available all weekend, and she asked if I can adjust my schedule. I wouldn't budge, and she said that all employees have to be fully available on weekends.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 1 week)
Applied on the website and got a call 1 or 2 days later. On the phone she asked me why I wanted to work there, what my other jobs were like and if I knew anything about the company. Knowledge about the company really impresses them, so if you apply, try to remember a few quick facts off their website. (Even though I said I didn't really know anything, I still got an interview). Also, I recommend being really enthusiastic and personable during the phone interview too, because at the end of my second interview they managers said they would talk to the girl who interviewed me on the phone.
For the in-person interview, I sat in a room with two of the managers. One of the managers basically didn't say anything and just wrote down my answers, while the other asked all the questions. Try to be as enthusiastic as possible and try to show off that you can work in a fast-paced retail environment. At the end they told me they were going to discuss, then talk to the girl who called me on the phone and they also had a few interviews to do, but H&M would be in contact within a week.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Chicago, IL (took 1 week)
I went to the store just to ask if they are hiring. I was given the application and was called in a few days from one of the store managers. He asked me few questions over the phone and conducted the 1:1 interview at the store next day. It was the most raelxed interview ever. He told me a lot about the company and benefits and asked questions like why would I want to work at H&M and what the customer service means to me. I filled out the background check application and am waiting for him to call me back.
After the background check comes I would have to talk to the other two managers.
