Interview Details – They start hiring in December and give you training the last week of the year or first week in the new year for tax season. The hiring process after the interview is a series of emails, background testing etc., if your information doesn't come before testing it's hard to get paid for training because they dont accept your I-9 information until after the background check. I had my training in December and didn't get paid until the last week in Feburary.
Interview Question – Easy interview if you don't have alot of experience this is the place for you. The pay is so low, high turn over rate each year and you can get unemployment after tax season. Be sure to smile at the interview. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation, you are told of the rate. Peak season is fast and busy try to get as much hours as possible after that they cut your hours.

Interview Details – I applied for this job online and was sent a link for an assessment. It wouldn't work under the current version of internet explorer (or past versions), so I used firefox. I was able to start the assessment and had no problems until I came to a section that was timed. It came up completely blank, and you could not refresh or do anything to correct it other than to exit, after which the assessment continued. Because this section could not be completed (obviously the most important as they said you would be penalized if you didn't finish a question in the time limit) I'm sure I automatically failed and within hours received an automated no-reply message saying I would not be considered for the role. There was nobody to contact about the problem, you can't even send an E-mail to H&R Block. I was very qualified for the role, very disappointed as to how this was executed.
Interview Question – Mostly general, the timed assessment, if I had been given a chance to do it, reflected handling pressures and priorities View Answer

No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Jan 2013 – Reviewed Jan 23, 2013
Interview Details – I applied and submitted my resume through their website for a tax position but I received an email for a CSR position offer instead. Its a temporary position and $9/hr. So the pay is very low but I confirmed the interview with them anyway since i really want a job asap. I came to the interview on time and prepared but the person who supposed to interview me never showed up. So one of the employees at the office interviewed me instead. She was really nice and the interview was very casual. No hard questions. After the interview, she told me I would received an email response from them the next two days but I never did and its been over two weeks. This experience left me a very bad impression of their company. They seem very unorganized, unprepared and unprofessional to my surprise. I would not apply or take any job offers from them in the future.
Interview Question – No hard questions. The most difficult question was name "one weakness and one strength about yourself" Answer Question
No Offer – Interviewed in Stafford, CT Dec 2012 – Reviewed Jan 4, 2013
Interview Details –
I answered an ad on Craigslist for the position and applied via e-mail, the office manager was quick to get back to me. The interview was in the office pre-season, so it was empty. This was less of an interview and more of a run-down of requirements. She constantly reminded me that the job was temporary, and did not seem impressed with my customer service experience or education.
When the time came for me to ask questions, I had asked about client volume, which was answered with a scoff. The interviewer did not believe that to be a valid question and responded with "900 clients during the whole season, you do the math".
During the interview (and in my subsequent rejection e-mail sent out Christmas Eve (ouch))she was disappointed in my lack of tax experience, but in no way made it clear in the posting that it was required or desired. She did not think of the receptionist position as entry-level.
Interview Question – What made you answer an ad on Craigslist for a job, when you know full well that it was a temporary one? Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Fort Worth, TX Nov 2012 – Reviewed Jan 3, 2013
Interview Details – The interview took place at the district office. The two interviewers were very courteous and professional. The questions focused on qualifications, performance in the H&R Block Income Tax Course and general work experience. Language skills are valued, especially Spanish. Many Block locations offer bi-lingual services.
Interview Question – The interviewers asked if I would be content with a position that is only seasonal. View Answer
Negotiation Details – The salary is fixed. I was offered a choice of location. The process was very agreeable. There were no surprises, as I had researched the company quite a bit prior to the offer and learned a lot about it in the income tax course.
Pros: Excellent training program. Good working conditions. – Full Review `
