The company HR first took an communication round after that those who got selected were called to give an aptitute test .After these 2 rounds we had an technical interview round in which questions related to the networks and basic working knowledge of computer were asked.finally we had and personal interview round .All the rounds described above were eliminatin rounds.

If you want to start your carrier in IT field then It is a nice place to work with.

First we had to complete a multiple choice questions test consisting of networking concepts and aptitude. Questions were mainly of the level of CCNA. After the test result we had a one on one interview regarding the previous work experience and basic concepts on networking i.e OSI layer, routing & switching concepts. Overall good process.

It was for Data center operations.First there was an IQ written test.then i was sent for an V&A round and then i was sent for an one to interview with the technical mnager.It all happened within one day and i was given the offer letter within a couple of weeks.

No i wasnt able to negotiate and the hike they gave me was satisfactory to me mostly because the previosu company was offering me peanuts.But if taken into consideration an GET is offered a package of 3.15 lacs at the beginning and here i am not even at 2.5 lacs after around 3 years if hard work.

I applied for the post through some job sites like monster.com and naukri.com. First some consultancy ppl called and ask about current job, ctc and expected ctc etc.. Then they told that they will forward my resume to HCL Technical wing. Then the next day the hcl technical lead called me and they ask mostly trouble shooting part. like
1. Cause code of Q.931
2. debug commands of ISDN Q.931
3. mgcp sub protocol
4. H.323 sub protocol
etc..

hello guys,
HCL comnet hires freshers on the basis of your performance in the AMCAT exam.I too selected on the same basis. I got a e-mail from HCL comnet saying that u r selected for further rounds at Ajay Kumar garg college,Ghaziabad.
we had 9.00am as a our reporting time. first we have to register ourselves there. Registration is done on the first cum first serve basis.i'll suggest you to reach early n register urself as soon as possible.
we are made to wait in the auditorium for about 30-45 mins.There were about 500-600 students who attended this drive.
firstly you will be called for a techanical round. It's a one on one round & in this round the interviewer will check how technically sound actually are...? My tips for this round : be calm , composed n focussed. n get prepared with pointers,Structures,Enumerations, OOPS,Constructors, basic C &C++ keywords n principles DataBase, networks (OSI layers , TCP/IP, Protocols ) and Software Engg (testing , types of testing,SDLC,STLC,Models etc)...
after the techanical round u have the final round which is the HR round. well most people has a opinion that HR round is just for the name sake bt with HCL comnet this is n't the case. HR round is also a elimination round. tips for the HR round : don't fumble. just be simple,clear n specific with ur words. Just speak ur heart out. But be a little bit cautious as well don't fake them. The people sitting there are are not the First timers.. they are there for decades. so just be what u actally are.. n yes! one more thng guys do wear formals.. but wear them in such a way that it does not luk as if u are wearing them for the first time...
i mentioned this b'coz this was the case with me.... heheehehe....

It was central-campus interview in our polytechnic college where total 5 colleges also took part. There were total about 150 candidates.
At first they gave the presentation ceremony about their company ,overview of their services & compensations.
Then they interviewed(1st round) each candidate one by one. It was basically technical interview of computer hardware & computer network related. They asked me about general computer architechture, hardware troubleshooting, networking like- N/W layers, N/W services & apllications, TCP/IP,LAN,WAN,how to set up a LAN/WAN, requirements for it etc. They also asked some questions related with physics, electronics, telecommunication related (about which I didn,t expected) like-Coulomb's law, EMF, What's magnetic field & its's unit, logic gates, new inventions in Telecommunication fields,satellites etc.
The 1st round of interview was tough as some unexpected questions were faced and interviewers further finds their next questions by candidate's answer. It seems to me that they wanted to know about networking skills & ability of the candidate for troubleshooting and handling tough situations.
Then they announced 20 names selected for their 2nd round of interview(HR interview). It was basically of personality test where they asked your happiest/sad moments of life, your like/dislike, willingness to to work anywhere 24x7, communication skills, attitude etc. They also asked me to sing some lines of my favourite song!
Then after 2 days they sent job letters to 15 candidates.3 weeks later they sent joining letter mentioning their work locations mostly Kolkata & some to Noida.

Negotiation Details
As it is a big brand and good job profile one should accept the offer. As a trainee for 18 months, starting compensation is ok(initially not like soft engineer,but hikes fast) considering N/Wing job in IT industry standard. At first it will be on-field job, but future in the N/Wing job is quite good.

The hiring process is quite transparent. However it takes time towards the Final phase of the Interview process. For me it took around 20 days when they finally floated the offer letter. HCL has a pool of talented human resources. And so it continues. The hiring process varies from profiles to profiles and also from the kinds of recruitment; i.e, Campus, Referral etc.
