No Offer – Interviewed in Bellevue, WA – Reviewed Feb 19, 2013
Interview Details –
The hiring and interview process took approximately 3 weeks, beginning with an initial application online. A recruiter contacted me rather quickly for an on-site interview, where I met the hiring manager. I had expected a 1:1 interview, however, I was surprised with a panel interview with members of the marketing team the position would be supporting. The interview was fairly short - approximately 30 mins long. The second step was submitting writing samples. I got to the second on-site interview, where I met the rest of the team and the supervisor of the hiring manager. This interview was longer than the first interview - approximately 2 hours long. The second half of the interview involved a skills test regarding aspects of the marketing assistant position. The final step of the process was a reference check, which took about 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, when I asked for feedback regarding the interview process, I received no word from neither the hiring manager nor the recruiter. What started as a positive process left me with a bit of a negative view, seeing as the company never bothered to follow-up and even send a simple email reply.

No Offer – Interviewed in Corpus Christi, TX – Reviewed Sep 7, 2012
Interview Details – They will tell you that you have the skills for the position. They will tell you they like your engineering background. But their reality is far from the truth. After the interview, you will get a letter that says they need people experienced for the position even though they stated they didn't. The interview is a waste of time. The only good thing I learned: HDR = One company, many excuses!
No Offer – Interviewed in Saint Louis, MO – Reviewed Aug 6, 2012
Interview Details – Came to St. Louis for what I thought was a 1:1 interview. When I was taken to the conference room, a video screen was set up with two additional interviewers shown on it. The interviewers gave me a problem to do first thing. The rest was general non-behavioral questions, mainly focusing on my schooling.

Interview Details –
I had an initial phone screening from HR after I applied for the position. Then a phone interview was setup 2 weeks later; that interview was conducted by the department manager and a project manager. It was simply review of my work experience and to gauge my interest in the position. The panel interview was about a month later due to uncertainty of budget availability. This interview was more detailed in the types of questions. I was asked specific railroad knowledge from my previous job and the interview panel consisted of the 2 people from the phone interview and one more project manager....all of which had substantial railroad experience. Overall, it was a laidback experience.
The office culture was mostly "baby-boomers" and young engineers with 2 years or less experience. There was a big gap in technical knowledge and experience. Very friendly group of people but that friendliness turned into intense stress during submittal time.

Negotiation Details –
HR conducted the negotiation so there was a certain tier that my position fell under. However, I was told that my boss had given the green light to go above that number to bring me on after the fact.
My advice would be to ask for what you want and let them talk you down. Don't just accept what the HR rep says.

No Offer – Interviewed in Norfolk, VA Feb 2011 – Reviewed Nov 25, 2011
Interview Details – The interviews went well and I was told that I was a good fit for the job. I found the online software skills testing to be faulty at best, and I was never offered the results of the testing. The Recruiting Dept did not follow-up as expected or promised, so I had to keep contacting them to find out where we were in the process. After spending much time and effort applying, interviewing, and testing for the job, I never received any correspondence or communication from them about the position; they just left me hanging! I now have a very poor impression of the firm.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Charlotte, NC Jun 2011 – Reviewed Jul 20, 2011
Interview Details –
I submitted my resume through HDR's website, was called back by HR for a phone interview with an engineering manager two days later. Discussed projects and scope of work at Charlotte office with manager for approx. 30 minutes with few questions asked. Called for an in-person interview two weeks later and flown down (at no personal cost) to tour office. Met a few engineers and spoke with manager about projects and work again before having lunch with two managers. Provided references and agreed to background check before receiving an offer three weeks later.
Of the minimal questions asked, most related to what kind of software I had used before and whether I was sure the scope of work was of interest to me.
Interview Question – Have you used any structal analysis software before? View Answer
Negotiation Details – Did not negotiate, though HR was very reasonable.
