Well, I decided to take a chance applying to Hastings with no previous work experience. I took the personality test and after almost exactly 2 weeks I got a call to schedule an interview. I went in, made sure I dressed nice and she made me feel comfortable and relaxed unlike other interviews I'd gone into previously. When she saw me, she told me she'd liked I'd dressed up for the interview bringing up past interviews which hadn't been as prepared. Then we talked about my schooling and she talked to me about the hours I would be getting at first and how the schedules are planned and the holiday season hours for me to expect. Then she went over the pros and cons of the job and what to expect to do as part of the job I applied for. She then told me about the benefits I'd get like discounts and such, she even told me how I could see where the best discounts I'd get on what items would be on the computer system. I was asked what experience I have and also what I like about Hastings. At the end, I was asked what other questions I had and all I asked was as to how long the training would take, since some other places I'd applied did training for 8weeks. She then told me if I was okay with taking a drug test and as long as I had the job, I could start in approximately one week and that was it.

I applied online and two days later got a call. The next day I was interviewed and got offered the job on the spot as long as I passed the drug test. The manager was very friendly and I trained the next week.

Probably the best thing about this job was how surprisingly easy it was. It was mostly just a 1:1 and then they called me back 2 days later scheduling a drug test. After that it took roughly another week, which they didn't tell me the manager was going on vacation but afterwords I was told the dress policy and was told to come in the next Friday.

Apply online then get a call back from the store, enter the store ask for a manager, walk to a table answer around ten questions then walk away. Wait for a call back in my case walk to your car and be called back in for a drug test go take a drug test then start the following week.

Went in and had a casual sit down interview with the guest services manager in the book department. She asked me about my past job experiences and if I was in school. She then offered me a job, and sent me for a drug screen.

Applied online, took the personality test. I waited a day and then called back into the store to check on my application and they said they wanted me to come in for an interview. Came in the next day and interviewed. Received a call that afternoon saying the job was mine after signing the paperwork and passing the drug test. Took another couple days and I was officially hired.

Negotiation Details
The pay isn't very negotiable on part time positions but becomes more so as you advance. Best thing I would recommend you negotiate for is hours/days. I was able to get either a Friday or Saturday night off every week, and one full weekend off every month which is pretty nice to have when you're in college.

I applied to work in person, and was called in for an interview within a day or two. It consisted of speaking with the manager and taking a skills test thy mainly covered math and ethics.
That was used to determine my pay rate. So take it seriously. They actually paid pretty well, and the work was simple. Staff was friendly, and I'd work there again if I still lived there.
