Interviewed Oct 2011 in Naperville, IL (took 4 weeks)
My personal first and only impression of, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) /Hallmark Service Corporation, is that they are not professional.
I had two interviews (Subsidiary/Hallmark Services Corp) totaling more 3.5 hours of my time, and not once did they ever give me any feedback, either by email or phone. If I was truly one of their finalists, as the hiring manager said, you’d think they would have the class and corporate professionalism to inform the applicant when they have made a decision on a candidate. You would think the Hiring Manager would see to this as a professional courtesy to the applicant.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Chicago, IL (took 1 week)
Brief phone interview with HR to set up in person interview. Had a 1 hour interview with hiring manager and another manager. Briefly met the Director.
The interview was pretty relaxed, no difficult questions, it was more conversational. Had good rapport with the people I spoke with. Beautiful office and great location right off of Lake Shore Drive. Great views from the offices.
Sent an e-mail after 2 weeks asking for status. Heard back immediately that the interviewing process would soon be complete. Received an e-mail a week later stating that I was not selected.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Naperville, IL (took a day)
I applied online. Called a few days later, left a voicemail and received a call the next day to set up an appointment for the following week. My interview began by doing a word processing test on the computer. I then had my one on one interview. It went very well. the people were very nice. the office setting was welcoming.

Interviewed Apr 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Submitted resume via the company website. Phone interview went horribly; I hung up and forgot about the job because I assumed I screwed it up so badly. Most of the questions were relative to my software experience and previous experience in healthcare.
In-person interview was relatively easy. I had work experience in the healthcare field, and fielded many of the off-the-wall questions about healthcare reform policy with ease. Went out to lunch with a few people my age, and felt very confident about the position after I came back. Honestly would have been surprised if I did not get an offer after how well the interview went, despite the fact that I had heard (and now confirmed) that the offer to interview ratio is close to 15%.

Negotiation Details
The original offer was significantly more than what I had asked for. The actuarial positions here are highly competitive, but they compensate you very well for making it all the way. Accepted original offer.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Group/Panel Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Chicago, IL (took 5 days)
The interview process was fairly laid back and straightforward. There were a series of interviews with different managers from the department and a casual lunch with two of the current actuarial students. Everyone was very polite and helpful and really wanted to make certain that I understood the benefits (and consequences) of their student program. Overall, it was a very smooth and pain-free process.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Chicago, IL (took 3 months)
Because the interview was held over the phone the personal interface was unavailable. There were 6 interviewers on two separate lines for one applicant. The final determination for placement was based upon only two of the interviewers who also game the skill test before ending the interview. It was a bit confusing but overall the process worked for the interviewer.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Springfield, IL (took 4+ weeks)
No face to face interview was even done. All they have you do is answer a few questions from a staffing agency and then do a drug test and background check.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Chicago, IL (took 2 months)
The process was long and bureaucratic. The staff was congenial and the executives I interviewed with appeared knowledgable. I will say it was an easy interview, walking through points on my resume.

The interview process was very average. Spent the majority of the time talking about the people in teh building and what their secrets were. Very unprofessional and almost sickning.
