Interviewed Sep 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
Contacted me fairly quickly after application. a 45 minute interview with three people at the same with questions ranging from what I think the magazine is, how much do I read, do questions about my resume. The office was one floor, but busy, generally pretty quiet but always with a conversation going on. The job felt very "New York-y", dynamic but somewhat set in its ways. Unfortunately, there was not much interaction between editorial side and publishing side in my experience (save for the few coffee break chats).
In terms of advice, I definitely recommend people to familiarize with the magazine very well. Knowing what type of advertisers is a plus but not necessary especially for the marketing job. Know what sets Esquire ahead from its competitive set (GQ etc) and be prepared to explain what you can bring to the table.
