Interviewed Nov 2009 in Philadelphia, PA (took 3 weeks)
Hewitt has been doing an outstanding job providing information to plan sponsors regarding the impact of healthcare reform. I continue to be impressed by Hewitt's senior health and welfare talent. If you are lucky to receive an offer from this organization and it meets your 'criteria', take it!
The recruiting process at Hewitt was incredibly disorganized. The two recruiters for health and welfare appear to be overwhelmed with work (based on their lack of responsiveness). You will have better luck getting through to the Vatican than reaching either of them.
If you are interested in opportunities with Hewitt, are well-qualified and can produce a good case on why they should hire you, I'd highly recommend circumventing the recruiting team, to the extent possible, by marketing yourself directly to practitioners in the health and welfare line of business (i.e. consultants, principals, management). If the process ends up back with the recruiting team, stay in front of the contact you established in the line of business so your name stays out there.
In summary, don't be deterred by the formalities of the process if you really want to work for Hewitt. Find ways to limit the recruiting team's involvement in your candidacy and, if lucky, you'll find a great place to work.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 3 weeks)
I knew some people at Hewitt and that helped get the intitial conversations rolling. I had a phone interview with a recruiter and the hiring manager. Then, I was asked to visit the headquarters. At the point, I had a half day session organized to meet with the leader of the practice plus other consultants on the team.
