Interviewed May 2010 in Alpharetta, GA (took 5 days)
Most Hiring Managers at HP are very busy if you can identify the hiring manger and email him/her directly you are almost garunteed an interview. Because the process for approval for a position takes so long to even post most managers move quickly once the interview phase has begun. There is usally a phoe screening with HR. An initial Phone conversation with the Hiring manager and then a 1:1 with the hiring manager. For outside candidates there is a 3 day rule to follow up.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Alpharetta, GA (took 5 days)
Interviewed with three people. Spoke to the hiring manager first and had most get to know each other type interview. There was not much technical detail involved in this round of interviews Manager was new to role so another interview was setup with a manager of closely related group for technical interview. Interview was conversational type with technical questions sprinkled throughout. All in all pretty laid back. Spoke with the Director of the team next and was mostly about expectations of the role, etc

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 4+ weeks)
I applied online around middle of February. I received an email from the hiring manager requesting my availably for a series of phone interviews. I replied back 24 hours later with my schedule. I didn't hear from her until two weeks later. We arranged another date for a telephone interview. It was a basic background assessment, and my knowledge regarding release management.
She informed me that she is recruiting for a new functional group. That went well and she wanted me to speak with another manager over their SAP implementation a week later. This was the same type of interview, in addition to him asking my interest in SAP.***mind you SAP exp was never mentioned in the job description and I asked if it was a necessary skill. He informed me no.
Last interview was with a peer manager and this was more technical and asked me again about my experience in release management. Though this manager was not involved with this new group, the hiring manager wanted another perspective.
One day after the 3rd interview, the hiring manager follow up via email stating.....and I quote
"we decided to not continue with your application for the release management position. It was a hard decision to make, but we would like to focus on more SAP exposure for this position."
In conclusion: they were looking for someone with SAP experience/exposure which I asked about and was assured it was not importing on a decision..however it was.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 3 months)
Initial interview consisted of a 30 minute phone screen by an outside agency. The second invitation was an office interview with a panel of 4. Questions were behavioral based followed by business accumen questions. The interview was in a conference room in a office that looked like a call center. The dress and style of management was very professional (coat, ties, dresses and jackets) unlike that of the others. There was no question as to who was "in-position".
Interview experience was good. I liked the fact that they responded within a week to let you know if you made it to the third level of interviews.
