Interviewed Dec 2007 in Palo Alto, CA (took 2 days)
We an an on campus interview where potential candidates that had skills HP was looking for were selected to be put into the Company's database for managers back at HP to select for further interview back in the office location the position would be based in.
It was a surreal experience Having done sales and trading before B-school and now interviewing for a corporate position, I was shocked by how silent the entire office was. You didn't hear anybody on the phone nor any talking. There were rows and rows of cubicles and the office decor seem rather left back in time in the 70s.
The interview in the office consisted of 5-6 people. One after another. Some gave the touchy feely questions like why you, why HP and those in my potential new team, gave some technical questions. All in all, it was nothing stressful compared to an i-banking interview. People seem genuinely nice and laid back. It's just the silicon valley culture I guess. Though the impression I had of a couple of interviewers I had was they didn't seem very polished compared to those from the East Coast! Again, I think it's just the silicon valley culture.
