Hiring Process is always slow in this company so stay patient. Interviews and feedback are somewhat slow as well. Some will ask more technical skill based questions and others will be based more on the soft skills. Come prepared for both and know your content.

2 phone interviews : Very comfortable, was interviewed by a team of 4 people, they make you comfortable at first, was asked what my dream job was. Then each person asked me 2-3 questions based on my resume. There was 1 question which I couldn't answer. The manager was very kind and told me they could teach me things that I did not know and it was not expected that I know everything

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard in May 2011.

    Interview Details

I was placed into the recruiting process by someone I worked with previously. Once in the process, I interviewed with a recruiter, the district manager and the national manager of global accounts. Once complete, I was made an offer within two weeks. The process was straight forward and what you would expect for a sales position.

My interviewers were great, personable, asked solid questions, no "tough" questions. Interestingly, had minimal contact with HR, which probably added to the amount of time the entire process took.

    Director Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Palo Alto, CA
Anonymous Interview Candidate in Palo Alto, CA
    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard in April 2010.

    Interview Details

Original contact was initiated by a third party recruiter utilizing linked in for potential candidates. Recruiter had telephone interview followed by in-person interview. Afterwards, followed the same pattern at HP -- interviewing with the hiring manager over the phone (about an hour), with a follow-up in-person interview (with the same hiring manager) about a week and a half later. This was for a director level position, so the content of all interviews was essentially the same -- around organization management, development process, employee challenges (conflict resolution, morale, etc). Plenty of time left in every interview for questions -- 20 minutes of every hour, so do your research, or prepare your quickness on your feet. As a side note, counter to what some other director level positions have posted (primarily in the product marketing/management or other functions), this interview in the technical development team did not require any fluffy business preparation ("what's HPs recent stock price"); although a general preparation in HP culture and organization did help in Q&A (ie: knowing what "The HP Way" was).

    Interview Questions
    • After explaining a high level set of challenges that would be facing the position, the question was to detail a 30,60, and 90 day action plan.   View Answer
