Interviewed Feb 2011 in Plano, TX (took a day)
Internal interview with boss who I expressed an interest in creating the job position for the group. She listened to what I said then asked several peers of higher job level if I was capable. However, it took her 2 - 3 months to come back to me with the proposal.
Negotiation Details
Tried to negotiate a job movement up. Instead, I got a lateral movement. No, salary increase either. I suggest that it is discussed at the first time to set the expectations.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Bangalore (India) (took 3 days)
It was an internal job positing. It was a easy interview and my prior experience in managing a virtual team and program managing a process was very helpful. I explained how what value I brought to the last job and what I could do for the new one. Since other people in the company have positive feedback since I have always taken had good professional relationships with my stakeholders.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Sofia (Bulgaria) (took 2+ weeks)
The initial process is to apply by sending your CV to HR. They may call you or not.
If they call you, HR set an interview up with the Hiring Manager. There are 2 interview to get to the final offer if you are going that way (to be accepted). For the local conditions, the management is interested on you knowing th HP framework (how come?) rather than your knowledge about the industry or the business.
The persons conducting the interview are not recruiters so it is rather a Q/A session than a assessment session about your profile, skill, approach to problem/solution situations.

Negotiation Details
The negotiation phase is straight forward but as in every business it may go down the hill if you ask for the wrong salary (too high) due to the normal pay bands for every job level and the fact that they may not affer you a salary based on your skill but based on the minimum skill they require to take the candidate. Certifications are valued to rate the salary as specialist or expert despite the years of experience so new comers can get higher salaries than employees with less experience and shorter carreer path in and out HP.
Other Details
I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Bangalore (India) (took 1 week)
The first round was a telephonic one, was mostly of Project Management related questions. The discussions went pretty good, the interviewer's approach was also very good. Then they called for a F2F discussion. That was with a very senior person, the discussion was mainly on past project managemen experience. The interviewer took the CTC details, notice period also. I was expecting a positive response, but HR came back later with a Regret note.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Portland, OR (took 2 weeks)
Long slow process, I was an internal candidate. HP is probably the slowest moving high tech company in the world. It takes forever for them to make a simple decision. So the decision to hire someone took even longer. The questions were simple and mostly process related. A few questions in regards to PMI methods. Some team questions, and that was about it.

Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I was really impressed with the interview process. The hiring manager really knew how to keep the process flowing so little time wasted between interviews and the decision process. I had an initial phone interview with the hiring manager and then interviewed with 3 others, then a lunch.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Colorado Springs, CO (took 6+ weeks)
Good interviewers. However, interview process took over 45 days. Asked HP interviewer why process takes so long and he said that sometimes job reqs get canceled, or management wants to hold out for 'ideal' candiate.
Guess HP doesn't get too many 'ideal' candidates and I had different experience with DELL-from time of first call, to final interview, was 3 weeks with job offer/benefits, etc. I accepted DELL job. DELL seems to have a sense of urgency/action when hiring folks.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Took too long for HP to decide whether to offer the position, even though I was told that I was the ideal candidate.

I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.
