Interviewed Nov 2011 in Pontiac, MI (took 2 days)
This position (for Customer Solutions Rep I) was listed on Indeed.com under the category of jobs at $40,000.00 and over. I applied online. An out-of-state outsourced HR rep contacted me and asked several questions and explained the hiring process. She asked what salary range I was looking for and I stated something between 35K and 40K. She states that the pay might not be that high but did not give an actual range and she did not indicate any sort of large difference between what I was asking for and what the company was paying. Several days later a hiring manager contacted me and indicated that the position only pays $10.25 an hour and includes all shifts, weekends, and holidays. She also indicated that they would expect me to remain in this position for a year and a half before I would be considered for other positions within the company. I was very disappointed and felt as though the job listing and first individual I spoke with did not accurately describe and disclose pertinent information about this position.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in San Diego, CA (took 3 weeks)
Very intensive, consisted of 9 back-to-back interviews with team members from multiple disciplines including R&D, Design, and Marketing. Initial conversations via phone and over coffee were very casual. On-site interviews were friend, but exhaustive. They knew what they were getting if they hired me, before the made the offer.
HP is very collaborative, they are seeking out people with conviction and leadership skills. They wanted someone who could hit the ground running. Probed on relevant experiences and approach to job.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Palo Alto, CA (took 2 months)
- 2 phone screens
- 3 in person interviews
Reasonably structured process, interviewed with team; offer decision was made within a week and communicated. Interviews were typical with some behavioral and personal questions. Seemed to depend quite a bit on how much you got along with the interviewer. Offer letter received within another week with 2 weeks to make decision.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Palo Alto, CA (took 2+ weeks)
Screening into the process was the most difficult part, but that was likely based on the recruiter. It was a panel to begin with, consisting of a wide range of "tell me about a project..." questions. Very rapid-fire, trying to test through generic answers and into something more substantive.

Negotiation Details
There was definitely room to negotiate. There are many facets of the offer that won't be able to be negotiated due to the byzantine processes left in wake of previous bad management, but in today's world that's mostly changed.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Palo Alto, CA (took 1+ week)
The process consisted of 2 phone interviews. The first was with my direct PM, who asked me about major, studies, interests on position and subject topic, as well as thought process - all behavioral. The second was with my PM's boss and head of dept. and was basically another behavioral interview on studies, logical thought process, simulation on a specific time, and background.
