Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Overall positive interviewing experience. Nothing too technical, I spent most of the time describing my current job responsibilities and how this career opportunity fits in with my skills and passion. The recruiter was extremely professional and was a pleasure to work with. Some of the topics that came up during the interview were in regards to the recent acquisition announcement, with Western Digital in the process of buying out Hitachi GST. The common response was, due to Hitachi's large market share of Enterprise class storage solutions, they were not worried about lay-offs in their team. Of course, there is no certainty or guarantee so it may be wise as a potential hire to discuss severance pay in the total compensation package (after receiving a written offer).

Interviewed Jan 2011 in San Jose, CA (took 2+ weeks)
Got contacted by recruiter via linkedin. HR called first followed by Hiring Manager. They asked about my current job and my work/skills background. I worked for another storage company so the skill set needed for HGST job was exactly my work profile in my current job.
They scheduled in-person interview and flew me in their San Jose site. Interview process was good, got interviewed by members of team I was supposed to join. Got interviewed by 6 team members and HR. Hiring manager took me for lunch in their cafeteria. He was friendly. The only aspect I did not like is that I was interviews by less experienced people than me. 2 interviewers out of 6 had less than 2 yrs of experience. I suppose their team had only 6 members and they had no other option.
Everything went smooth except I did not get offered $$$ which I had in mind. I would have accepted the offer if they offered me 10K more.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Norman, OK (took a day)
Great! All the people were wonderful! Seems like a great place to work! Everyone is very nice and it looks like a very comfortable place to work at! Its a great location and they have great benefits! You must go through a staffing agency to become employed there and you also must be willing to travel out of state to train.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in San Jose, CA (took a day)
very non-professional. Sent email one day asking if I can come in for personal interview the very next day, giving the feeling that this is a urgent hiring. No phone call before. I go in and meet hiring manager (who was in such a rush to complete, that I think she had made her mind before), another manager and HR. The other 2 interviewers didn't show up. No further communication from HR. At least tell me that they rejected me. Whenever I call HR, she always made excuses like 'I am in the middle of a report', 'I have to go to a meeting now'. I got the message, but it could have been conveyed better.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in San Jose, CA (took 2 days)
I was initially contacted by the hiring manager by phone for a brief discussion about my professional aspirations and experience and how they fit with the company. The on-site interview was fairly straight-forward. I initially met with the hiring manager who showed me around, then passed me off to the recruiter who discussed the basics of the company and their benefits package. I then had a chance to speak with some of the other potential co-workers one-on-one.
