Interviewed Jan 2012 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Interviewed for a promotion to Front-end Supervisor. At that point I was already debating leaving the company, but decided to give it a shot anyways. It consisted of five several scenario-type questions given by the Ops Manager. All of them were generic. Following that, the General Store Manager interviewed my about the various changes I would bring to the department.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Bastrop, TX (took 2 weeks)
Applied online, two weeks later received an email requesting a phone interview, the woman conducting was very nice and questions surprisingly easy,I think she only asked three questions, "give me an example of when you gave outstanding customer service,?" though I cannot remember the other two questions they were very similar. She thanked me for my time, told me I might get a call back, 5 hrs. later I received a call requesting a in person interview in 2hrs, that annoyed me a it, however the man interviewing me was also very nice, interview consisted of scenarios to determine customer service, again very easy and I was offered a part time job at 9.80/hr

Interviewed May 2010 in Austin, TX (took 3 days)
Human Resources arranged a phone interview with the department manager. A subordinate handled the entire interview. The interview questions covered my experience and some very general technical questions. I had more than enough experience for the position. I felt the interview went smooth and ended well. I expected to hear back, but get the feeling that I was competition for the interviewer. Never talked to the hiring authority and never heard back from the company even though they agreed to let me know the disposition of the job opening. No news is news and lacks the potential for confrontation.

Interviewed Apr 2007 in Austin, TX (took 2 weeks)
The process up until I made it through the HR recruiter is fairly typical of IT departments at most US companies. First, there was an initial screen call from the recruiter to verify the facts of my resume and my availability. This was followed after a couple of days by an extensive panel phone interview that lasted over two hours, where multiple technical people quizzed me on my experience and presented hypothetical problems to resolve. A few days after this, I had an interview on-site with the hiring manager, senior manager, and a couple of other folks. There was also a "structured interview" section where questions were read to me verbatim. This was a list of hypothetical problems and I had to give my answers. It was explained to me that every applicant who made it this far was given the exact same information, so that they could be evaluated objectively. After this interview, I received a verbal offer a few days later.

Negotiation Details
I negotiated the salary; the rest of the compensation and terms were acceptable. We met at exactly the mid-point between their initial offer and my starting position. My advice would be to ask the recruiter where your figure falls on the spectrum for the position, as most non-management positions have a maximum. You don't want to be too close to that ceiling or your raises will be stunted, so HR does not like you to be too close to the limit.
