Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 2 weeks)
I am currently going through the interview process. Applying online is not enough. You must take a resume in and then follow up with a phone call. Sometimes there are so many applications online that unless you have made personal contact yours will not be looked at.
I did all of the above and did receive a call. The first part of the interview is a phone interview. If you get past that you are brought in to meet with the Department Superviser... if that goes well you will then get a background check and then finally a meeting with the store manager wher your final interview and negotiation takes place.I am at that stage now.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 3 days)
First got a call from Human Resources, they asked me a number of general questions , which narrowed down which department would be best for me. Passing that phone in interview got me a 1-1 interview two days later with the departments manager. After that I was notified that I'd be hired and started a week later.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took a day)
Received a phone call after dropping my resume. The store manager called and it was very nice. Asked about my previous experience and interest of working for the Home Depot. They asked about my availability to work during weekends. Due to a personal issue I was not able. Interview lasted 10 minutes.

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took 5 months)
Completed store application and attached resume. Waited, then followed up. Dept Mngr on vacation. Followed up again, told they lost my resume. Given 1 minute phone interview by HR Mngr and told to resubmit resume. Interviewed by Dept Mngr. Followed up but told to resubmit resume again. Given second interview by different Dept. Mngr. Given third interview by Assistant Store Manager. Given fourth interview by HR Mngr and offered position. Questions were same for all of the first three interviews. Behaviour based, focusing on what I have done in certain situations.
Commonly, applicants will have less interviews. Two managers were undecided as to where to fit me, given that another qualified applicant had withdrawn their job acceptance.
Home Depot supervisors are not comfortable interviewing candidates. They have very little experience with this duty, and feel conflict with having to act superior to their co-workers (generalizing, but often true). If you can make the interviewer feel relaxed, everything will go forward very well from there on in.

Negotiation Details
Minimal pay negotiation. Company has narrow range of pay. Advise women to aim higher than they would first propose, as discovered male co-workers were getting paid 20-25% more than I was - with same amount of transferable skills and past job experience. Since they pay benefits after reaching a consistant hourly threshold over a long time period, your wages are the only monetary gain you will probably have for quite awhile - make sure you bargain for the highest possible starting wage. Even though my performance review was 'excellent', they only offered $.25 / hour increase.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Sarnia, ON (Canada) (took 2 days)
I was called on Monday by HR and we set up the interview for Wednesday Morning for 9am. The interview lasted about 20 minutes.
It wasn't a very formal interview, two people were sitting across from me, one asked the questions while the other write down what I said. It was pretty stress free. I didn't rehearse at all for the interview and felt I did ok.
