Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Huntsville, AL Mar 2012 – Reviewed Mar 28, 2012
Interview Details – Applied online. Few days later, received a call from HR. Had to answer a few automated questions, and once done, the call was transferred to a human. Had to answer a few more questions related to customer assistance and had to give hours I was available. During the phone call, I was scheduled for an interview at the store 2 days later. Took close to an hour to meet with manager at face-to-face interview. No one knew where I was supposed to go and manager was no where to be found/busy. Answered a few more questions for manager and was offered the job immediately. Was given a form and directions to clinic for my drug test. Said it'll take 3-4 days for background check and test results to be available.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Colorado Springs, CO Mar 2012 – Reviewed Mar 25, 2012
Interview Details – I applied online, completed a skills test and personality test. I was called in for an interview. The interview lasted only 10 minutes but I waited 20 in the break room before the interview because the manager was running late with store duties. A few questions was asked because I held the position that they were trying to fill in the past at another location. I took a drug test and submitted a background test and passed both but declined the offer when they decided to pay me less than what I ever made at two other stores. I asked why and the reply was "The economy is really bad we can't afford that anymore".
Interview Question – Name a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The pay was awful for a former employee who left on good terms.
No Offer – Interviewed in Fullerton, CA Jan 2012 – Reviewed Feb 28, 2012
Interview Details – First I did an phone interview which was easy. Then immediately after the phone interview, I received a call to schedule an appointment for a 1:1 interview. The 1:1 interview was easy as well, ask question about yourself. I guess I didn't get an offer because of my work availability.

Interview Details –
First contact will be by phone. At the end of the interview, the interviewer will either tell you that s/he'll pass the information to the Manager of whichever Home Depot you are applying OR you will be told an interview day and time immediately. In my experience, if you are not given an interview right off the bat, they might not be interested in you for that store at the time and you'll be placed in their system as available again.. NOTE: Is better to apply for more than one location because you will be getting called from different Home Depots for differrent positions. Also if you recieve more than one call before you receive a face to face interview- it means they moved on and you are not being considered for another store.
The face to face interview is a couple of question with a manager where s/he'll try to decide whether or not you are a right fit for Home Depot and what position would be good for you, meaning that you may be offered another position during an interview. The questions are similar to "What is customer service to you?" and other question concerning how you handled stressful situations in the past. All the staff was extremely nice- you feel comfortable when you are there.
Interview Question – Not an exact Quote " Tell me about a time you had to deal with an unhappy customer" View Answer
Negotiation Details – I didn't negotiate because They told me what was offered in for the position and there were several other applying the same day (more than 25 other individuals)
No Offer – Interviewed in Saint Louis Park, MN Feb 2012 – Reviewed Feb 16, 2012
Interview Details – Applied online for the seasonal cashier position. Got a call after about 3 weeks from GA center, automated system asked me to answer a couple of questions after which a representative came on the line and confirmed my identity. Read out the job description, told about the pay and schedule. Asked me if i was still interested in the position, i said yes and then she had a brief interview, asked 3 questions. She told me she was recording the call and also entering my answers in the system for their records. The whole process took about 30 mins, at the end she scheduled an at store interview after two days. The store interview was 1:1 with the Operations Manager, who seemed very welcoming and made me feel at ease. He asked about 6 questions, all the questions asked were to find how well you fit to this job, past related experience, situational questions. Later he explained in detail the shifts, kind of work, dress code and the training process if hired. Sign a couple of papers consenting for background check and drug test if hired. I will be informed within a week about their decision. This is my first job as a cashier, i just told them my experience from college and internships. Just make them feel you are available to work all time and are willing to learn new things.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Cincinnati, OH Aug 2010 – Reviewed Jan 31, 2012
Interview Details – The interviewing process was slightly annoying being that you have to take a pre-screening phone interview that just reviews everything you put on your application. Once you make it to the one on one it is very relaxed and easy. It mainly consists of talking about your history in retail and what hours you would like to work.
Interview Question – Why would you be unqualified for this job? Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in McKinney, TX Jan 2012 – Reviewed Jan 25, 2012
Interview Details – Filled out an application on Sunday. Received a phone interview call on Monday (all automated from their Georgia call center). Within 5 minutes of hanging up from the phone interview I got an automated call saying that they wanted to set up an in store interview. Was transferred on the automated call to an automated scheduler which told me that they had no interview dates available yet. I was then transferred to an operator who also said the same thing. I was told that they would call or email me when they had dates in their system. By Wednesday I hadn't heard anything so I decided to call back just to make sure I wasn't being left in the dark, since it was them who initiated the in person interview scheduling. Sure enough they had dates available for the following Monday. I scheduled a morning interview. I showed up for my interview and was escorted back with two other candidates for other positions. I was interviewed by the assistant store manager and he was assisted by a department lead supervisor who took all of the notes. The questions were all from an interview questionaire. They were really nice and friendly. I was just myself with them. Most of the questions were customer service based and basically the customer always comes first. I answered all the questions except the one about describing something about my job that I would not enjoy doing everyday. I paused and said I wasn't sure. They told me it was okay not to have an answer. I was offered a job on the spot and then had to complete a drug screen and background check. I am waiting to start my orientation.

Negotiation Details – No negotiation. They offered one rate and it was take it or leave it. Althought it was a part time temp position and they said that they usually hire all of their temps if they don't leave. I am planning on asking for a higher rate if I get to that point. After they know my abilities, etc.
