Today your are screened by HR then you meet with the Store Manager.
To get in the store managers head, think about who he reports to and what gets back to his superiors .
Are you a liability ?
Will you be a distraction ?
Are you a thief ?
Managers at Home Depot think more about liabilities and benefits.... You are a follower and they are the leaders.... Be the good solider , humble, follow orders and do your work !

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Fullerton, CA (took 2 weeks)
First I did an phone interview which was easy. Then immediately after the phone interview, I received a call to schedule an appointment for a 1:1 interview. The 1:1 interview was easy as well, ask question about yourself. I guess I didn't get an offer because of my work availability.

Interviewed May 2011 in North Tustin, CA (took 4 days)
Was well excepted and excellent at all the preliminary screening and telephone interviews (both computere automated and person questions response) . Placed myself in a person to person interview and looked to be doing well, until I noticed the manager was not noting any information on the sheet.
I was told that there was only 3 candidates for 3 jobs and ALL would be contacted. I queried the resource center, left messages for HR. went to the offices again and posted notes. I did not receive the courtesy of a reply ... to this day.

Boring, standard questions, BS-ing and selling yourself, undesirable location and not much more pay, same old format as if the guy were reading off of a templated sheet.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Costa Mesa, CA (took 4 weeks)
If you know anyone who works for the company, have them hit up the HR rep for the store and they can get your application placed to the top of the list. I first received a link to an online test, i was then followed up with a phone interview after i passed the online test. After that I was contacted by the store HR rep who had me interview with the department manager. 2 weeks after the interview i was called back to go over some paperwork and offered the job. Then they send you to a drug test... hired a week after that...

Interviewed Aug 2010 in West Hollywood, CA (took a day)
My interview was scheduled for 11am, I arrived 20 min early. They did't see me till about 12pm.
I waited in the hallway, next to the KRONOS clock where the employees clock in/out. And hour + waiting is a bit time to wait, there is a lot of stuff to read and look at on the walls but try not to wander off (it will look bad) so you can look at it and keep you busy while you wait.
Dress up because first impressions for this Entry level job is very important!
Bring 2-3 Additional Resumes "with" your references and maybe a cover letter.
While in the interview, DON'T SLOUCH, Say "Umm", Don't fiddle with your fingers or tap your feet.
Even though there are paying entry level money, they are watching the way you handle yourself.
And most importantly of all....Be yourself!!!!
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
They are low ballers, will not pay for the product and professional knowledge and experience background that I have. Sales Associates make anywhere from minimum wage-$16hr.
My target was $15.50.
offer was 10.00 then .50 raise after 3 month probation.
