Interviewed Apr 2012 in Riverside, CA (took 2 days)
I applied Tuesday, got an email letting me know I was going to get a call for a phone interview. I got the call, they asked 4 questions, how do you handle a difficult customer...why do you feel you are right for this position..tell me about a time when you had to meet a deadline.. so on n so fourth.. he explained how much the position paid, and the terms of employment then asked me if i was still interested. I then scheduled an interview for the following day. I went to the interview and then the interviewer asked me 6 questions, which he says are standard.. and then he had me talk to another supervisor, who then offered me the job. I was then sent to take a drug test and now I'm waiting to be called back after the background check.

Interviewed May 2010 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA (took 1 week)
I applied online and received a call two weeks later. However, this was during a hiring period and may not be the norm. I answered the normal basic interview questions and was passed on for a in-person interview. This was actually more of a skills analysis. The questions were based on product knowledge and customer service.
Overall, the company itself was ran rather well and efficient. The training consisted of several weeks.

Received phone call and time was scheduled to interview. Went in on interview day and was told I was there on the wrong day. Returned the next day for the interview. Everyone in the store seemed happy and helpful. Interview was with 2 managers at the same time. They questioned me about my experience, etc. They said they would let me know in a few days. Interviewed Jan 2011 in Redlands, CA (took 3 weeks)
I first received a phone interview that asked basic sales experience questions and after doing well they set a date for a 1:1 interview with a store manager. I arrived at the Home Depot and there were many applicants waiting to be interviewed. I sat and chatted with them for about 30 minutes because they were running behind then I was called in.
The woman interviewing me was really nice and I got along with her well. They had put me in the plumbing department but it was full so they switched me to Paint. After the interview I was told that I would get a call back for a second interview.
I waited a week and nothing. I called in and asked to speak to the manager and she remembered me and told me that they'd call soon. At the end of the week I called again and decided to drive down to the store and speak to someone. I talked to the manager again who assured me that she gave my application to the head of the paint department and that she was busy training.
This is the 2nd week and still no word from Home Depot and I'm getting worried. I'm expecting a call this week but I'm disappointed that they don't keep their applicants updated.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Apple Valley, CA (took 2 days)
I applied for the position and was called the next day. I was lucky. From talking with other associates, they had to wait longer sometimes up to four months. I interviewed with the operations manager who said they were interviewing applicants over the next two weeks and I would know within three weeks. I got a call the next to come back for a second interview with the Store Manager. He hired me and sent me to take a drug test.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Lake Elsinore, CA (took 2 days)
I applied online to multiple locations, I got a call back within a week to come in for the interview. There were two people and in a small room, afterwards they told me I would be getting a call in for a second interview with the store manager which would be the following Monday. That went well, was then told I would be contacted for background check and drug test. There really is no way to mess that up so im figuring I prety much got the job.
