Interviewed Dec 2011 in Newark, NJ (took 2 days)
Initial contact for senior mgmt positionwith hiring manager over the phone went well. Long in depth conversation focused on skill set and hiring company needs and issues. Resulted in a 1x1 interview onsite. This is where I should have realized what I was dealing with. Date was scheduled through recruiter - when I asked how to handle expenses - the recruiter called back and told me they don't reimburse for travel(? first clue). I decided to go ahead because I thought the chemistry with hiring manager over the phone felt right. I drove several hours to get there on time. I was scheduled to meet with multiple people. I go there and waited in their lobby for 20 min PAST the time scheduled for my first interview - total time twiddling my thumbs in lobby 30 min (2nd clue). Finally I asked security to call up again and then sent someone down and took me to HR to fill out an application (3rd clue). Sat there for another 15 minutes and someone came in and "apologized" and explained she wasn't the person supposed to talk to me (4th clue - HR was not even on my interview schedule) ; then someone else shows up (also apparently not the HR person I was supposed to be talking to) and talks to me for about 30+ min - I actually thought that went very well - the chemistry was good, questions reasonably thorough ; then was told I would be able to meet with hiring manager, but other 2 involved in decision not going to happen - well that happens, but if you are going to bring someone in and on their dime - I would think that a reasonable approach would be to "reschedule" the day? Anyway - I had a 1x1 with hiring manager and another person on the team. When I walked out of there I knew immediately that this culture was a little off the mark for me.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Trenton, NJ (took 2 months)
My appt time was 3pm but wasn't seen until 4pm because the HR person was tied up on a phone conference. I first met with HR rep and was asked some scenario questions. Afterwards I met with the hiring manager. That went rather well. She mentioned that I would be recommended for an additional interview with her boss. That interview didn't take place until well over a month later. I had to keep emailing and calling the HR person for updates. When the 2nd interview took place, it was the director and two additional managers present. I was told that they are still interviewing people and to give another month. A month came around and I contacted the HR person for another update. She never responded to any of my calls/emails. After a month, I then realized that I did not selected. The only complaint that I have with this company is that they should send out a courtesy email if they decide not to select a candidate. Otherwise, the interview process was fair.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Newark, NJ (took a day)
Responded to a position on Career Builder and was quickly contacted by Horizon Blue Cross. They asked me a few brief questions and then invited me to an on--site interview. The on-site interview began with an interview with the Benefits Coordinator, who told me about Horizon's excellent benefits and asked me a few general questions -- nothing hard. Then I walked down the hall for an interview with the manager whom the person would report to -- the interview was an average interview with no really difficult questions, however I gave a response that was not the best response to one question, and believe this may have cost me the interview.

Interviewed May 2011 in Newark, NJ (took 4+ weeks)
First Round of interviews - I met with HR recruiter and the hiring manager.
Second round of interviews - I met with HR recruiter, the hiring manager, a potential peer, the CIO, and the heads of talent acquisition and HR. The questions were very behavioral and intense, required a lot of detail in each response.
