Certainly I'd look at how long the phone has been in their possession, obviously batteries start to lose their original capacity after several hundred cycles. I'd check out the charge cycle for them and if it is below 50% I am eligible to exchange it for them. Although if it is near 50%, I'd be more than happy to switch it out.

Other than that if it wasn't a battery cycle issue, I would be sure to tackle the problems such as too many programs open, using intensive HD Streaming from Netflix or whatever battery intensive applications they may have been using
