Show them "what's in it for them," in other words, why should they want to work for Goodwill? Why should they want to do a good job? Remind them of the mission of the organization and show the impact their work is having. THANK your employees, and be specific. "I really appreciated the way you spent extra time with that customer to find out what they needed, even though you were getting ready to go on break. That shows great customer service."

Tell stories about employees who have done a good job to use as an example for other employees of what they can aspire to. LISTEN to your employees ideas...they will have some great ones! If an idea can't be implemented, explain why, don't just ignore it or worse belittle it. COACH your employees, don't just tell them what to do and "crack the whip."
