First, I would take responsibility and apologize for the situation, whether I had been involved or not. Then I would ask the customer what would satisfy them. After satisfying the customer within good business practices (like not giving away the store) I would make sure the customer is now satisfied, thank them for their business, and ask them to please give us an opportunity to work with them again.
