Summer Analyst Interview

Summer Analyst
Houston, TX

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Howard Frazier Barker Elliott in February 2012.

Interview Details – HFBE recruits their summer analyst on college campuses, through the campus recruitment services. There is a first round interview on campus with two HFBE employees, usually an experienced analyst and/or associate. The interview has technical and behavioral aspects. They will ask typical behavioral questions seen in other business job interviews. The technical questions are accounting and finance questions associated with business valuation. The interview is 30 minutes. An HFBE representative will contact you by phone for a second round interview at the office in Houston and the interview process there is approximately 3 or 4 hours long. This includes multiple 30 minute interviews with a variety of employees from the office, usually with 2 employees. The process will end with a one on one interview with the employee in charge of the hiring decision. All the interviews closely reflect the first round interview closely. They should contact you a week after second interview with a decision.

Interview Question – All the technical questions are basic accounting and finance questions, mainly topics that involve business valuation. For example, what is the most important financial statement when valuing a business? Why?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There were no negotiations
