Interviewed May 2012 in Cambridge, MA (took 4 weeks)
Consisted of a phone screen from HR, a half hour phone interview with the hiring manager, a role play of a consultant - client phone conversation, and an in-person interview with a bunch of members of the team. Takes a looong time to get to each next stage and is very competitive. I was told they got over 100 applications per day for the role.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Cambridge, MA (took 4+ weeks)
LONG process. Don't even think of applying if you don't know someone who works on the inside. Starts off with a phone interview with HR to see if you're sane. Next you speak to a manager over the phone to again see if you're sane. Next you go into the office to meet with a current employee that does the same job you're applying to. Next you go in to meet with a recruiter as well as a manager. Next you go in to meet with your potential boss AND have to pass a role playing game. Including the two initial phone interviews you;re looking at 5-8 interviews.

They were very thorough, but they are looking for a very specific type of developer which I didn't fit into.

Multiple stages, lots of interviews and role plays. It is a bit repetitive because they are a bit unorganized but they also want to make sure they get the right type of people

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Cambridge, MA (took a day)
I was referred to this company by a colleague and I felt that the interviewers did not know why exactly they were interviewing me and they just did it as a favor. They made references to the fact that my resume is not like the typical candidates that they interview, and is more of the "old school" type of candidate they would have selected in the past. I didn't feel that I was just being asked questions about my experiences, work ethic, and personality, but that I was also being quizzed on marketing principles despite clearly having no marketing background. One of the interviewers scoffed that I could not write code (I wasn't going for an engineering or web developer position) and also questioned the fact that I was unemployed and even suggested that I was not laid off, which I felt was degrading.
A lot of very smart people work at this company, but some of them come across as snooty and that they are looking down on people who do not know everything that they know. I asked how they would train a new employee coming in who had the right background but not all of the knowledge about the industry, and they stated that the right candidate "lives and breaths" in that industry and already knows everything they need to know to work there.
I also got mixed information - one interviewer told me that the consultants are given free reign to run their projects as they wish, and the other told me the opposite and that they are extremely structured.

Rigorous and testing. It weasels out those who are unable to handle the work required to be a HubSpotter. Be prepared to think on your feet and be passionate about what you do.

The team did a great job accessing technical and problem solving skills. The questions were a little vague giving me the opportunity to ask questions prior to diving in to solve the problem.
