Interviewed May 2009 in Malvern, PA (took a day)
I was called in because a job recruiter had called me about this position, which I expected to be for physically repairing office equiment, but it turned out that they were looking to fill a Help Desk role. I am competent in both areas, and I had displayed my competence very well (if I do say so myself). I assumed the role would be mine based on the interview, but they never called me back. Neither did the recruiter, despite multiple phone calls to her.

Interviewed Dec 2009 (took a day)
I was screened by a recruiter who seemed to be very excited for the opportunity to interview me since my background and qualifications well exceeded those required for the position. The recruiter set up an interview with a local hiring manager for a few days later. The day before the interview I was called and asked to reschedule for a time several hours later in the day, which was no problem, but an inconvenience since I had to rearrange my schedule. When I arrived at the office I checked in with the receptionist and nearly an hour later the female manager came out to "interview" me. The interview took place in a conference room adjacent to the lobby with all glass walls and doors providing dozens of distractions for the interviewer. The interviewer began to ask me questions, barely making eye contact since she was busy texting/emailing on her phone. At one point she picked up a call during my response to one of her questions. The entire time she was extremely rude and chose to talk about her rapid rise to power and career path rather than discuss my experience. She was clearly very impressed with herself. During this time, employees would walk by and she would wave them in to speak with them during the interview. After a few questions she told me she was extremely busy and had to make a call. She left the room for about twenty minutes and another female manager came in and asked me a few different questions but had no clue about my background so the questions were very general. Eventually the initial manager came back, the current manager left and there was no conversation about what was just discussed. I felt like the second manager was just a babysitter! This whole ordeal made me very anxious, offended, and irritated with how rude this woman was being and turned me off from this company entirely. At the end of the interview the interviewer had the nerve to tell me she wished I were more "excited" about the opportunity. I was excited and would still be if I were given the chance to actually participate in a real interview and not be constantly and rudely interrupted. I mean, you could hardly call this an interview. I understand that this was a busy time, but the ball was in her court when making the interview appointment- it could've been rescheduled again for a less busy time. Needless to say I wasn't offered the job, but I wouldn't have taken it if offered anyway. I can't imagine what it must be like to work for that woman!

Interviewed Oct 2009 in New York, NY (took 5+ weeks)
The interview process started out normal, with a phone interview about a week after I applied to Ikon online. Then I was called in for my first interview and found out after my hour train ride and 25 dollars later that they scheduled two people at the same time for the same interview. Because of this, I then met with the same HR rep who I had my phone interview with to not completely waste my time and basically had the exact same interview as the one on the phone. They asked me to come back for another interview and again I was given the run around. I interviewed with the office sales manager who said he only had time for a quick interview but would love for me to come back for a in depth meeting and said I showed great potential. Two weeks later after not hearing anything from them and several emails and phone calls later, I finally was able to set up the third meeting. At this point I was supposed to meet other members of management, as well as the sales manger whom I previously met with, and then move on to the final step of the interview process which was the panel interview. This interview, which was scheduled for 10 am but didn't start till 11:30, lasted about an hour and left me with a great feeling, again after being told I had a lot of promise and that I could have been a great fit within the company. However the other managers were not available at the time, so he told me he wanted me to come back within the week, as he wanted to complete the process as soon as possible. Two weeks later of trying to track him down, I was finally able to set up the third interview. The Business manager who I was scheduled to meet gave me about 15 minutes of her time and then said again I was a great fit and wanted to schedule a "ride along" where i would shadow a account manager for the day to make sure I thought ikon was a good fit for me. Again, I left this meeting with a great feeling and thought I had a great shot of landing this position. Today, six weeks later I have given up trying to track someone down and receive and answer. I can deal with the rejection, but I would at least expect the common decency of an letter or an email saying that the position has been filled. Maybe I was not who they wanted, but just telling me after the second interview that we would not have worked out would have saved me a lot of time, stress, and most importantly a 100 dollars worth of train rides. The warning signs were there from the begging and should have listened to them.

Interviewed Jul 2007 (took 1+ week)
IKON uses a three interview process. Your first interview is with a recruiter, second with the sales manager,
and third is with the area sales manager. The first interview is more of a background interview, but your second really is more of a selling skills and you need ot make sure you are on your game. If you get to third just make sure you are confident in your skills and you should receive an offer.

Interviewed Jun 2007 in Providence, RI (took 1 week)
It took a little longer than I expected. I had my phone interview and because I had experience in the field they made a sales manager interview the next day. From there I met with a Director of Sales two days later. From there they made it known I was going to be hired. However it took the recruiter 30 days from there to schedule the drug test and get an offer letter. DOS was informitive and the boss I interviewed was great.

I was able to negotiate. I had 3 years sales experience 2 in the same vertical market. Consider what you need to make year one with no experience and ask to see your territory. See what your first 18 months would bring in for lease expirations
