I had a interview with an HR person and then followed up by a technical interview with a manager, not the manager that I worked with later at the job. At this interview you are also able to ask questions about living conditions and benefits, etc.

Since this is for a defense contract overseas, regular salaries are not helpful, and you have determine what amount of money would you be willing to go to Afghanistan for and bargain for that amount.

I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a Skills Test, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

I did a phone screen first with the hiring manager. A week later, we arranged an on-site interview. The on-site interview consisted of 45 minute interviews with the engineering manager I would support, the group manager (his boss), the group finance manager (hiring manager's boss), an HR hiring specialist and the hiring manager. The HR specialist seemed concerned that the hiring manager had screened me without her input and so put me through a somewhat brusk behavioral interview.

I was screened with a phone interview and then later flown down for an on-site interview. It was extremely easy and felt as though I was being sold the job. No hard questions. I really liked everyone I met and the working environment seemed great and continues to be in my opinion.

I submitted my resume at my college's career fair and was contacted within a couple weeks that myself along with 30 other candidates were selected. A career day was scheduled at their facility which consisted of a half day of touring the company and the other half on a series of 4 interviews. The interviews were not highly technical and very laid back. They basically wanted to know about my previous experience and educational accomplishments.

I did not negotiate the offer I simply chose my start date. Offer was very competitive and the benefits package was one of the best in the industry.
