Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 2 days)
I had met an administrator and talked informally, and then was invited to submit my resume and come in for a teaching presentation. Then I had a 1:1 interview with the dean which was more like an orientation. They were in a hurry to fill my position. (And I was in a hurry to have a job so I accepted!)
Since my hiring, I've sat in on other presentations as well, so this is standard:
You have ten minutes to present a lesson from your field, and then take questions for another five. Do NOT stand behind a podium. DO greet each person, shake hands, and be personable. These reviewers will be fellow instructors, administrators, financial aid reps, recruiters, receptionists--whoever's available when you were scheduled. Walk around, be interactive, engage people in learning something.
Then you leave the room and are evaluated. The big question asked will be, "Is this a person who can hold the students' interest? Will they come back the following week?" They wonder if you can handle tough students, if you'll be loud enough to be heard over the white noise of the computer labs, and whether you'll care about the students.
Most presenters are so worried about portraying themselves as experts in their fields--which is important--they don't show the other half of the job--engaging the students and being so entertaining, students will finish your class. They do lean toward the expertise and hope the teaching part can be taught, but if you can come in with both, you've probably got the job.

Nope! It's flat rate, take it or leave it. And it's so low, I was shocked. $1500 a quarter per class. You'll receive a long list of expectations to go with it: call absent students, be prepared, write your objectives on the board, etc. etc.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Group/Panel Interview, a Presentation and a Background Check.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 3 months)
The initial communications with the company were straight forward and based on my resume in comparison to their needed skills set. This lead to negotiating an interview time, which was canceled by the interviewer within an hour of the meeting time. The second attempt for an interview went very well and the contact interviewer was very professional. The next step was a demo presentation about a topic of my choice relating to the field of CJ. This was infront of a panel of judges, whom arrived late and with food. My time frame was reduced, but it was a good real life experience in how I can modify my lesson plans to the needs of the school and to avoid distractions. I was told, at the end of the presentation, that I would be contacted within a week for another interview with the president to sign paperwork and they were impressed with my skills and I should be getting the position. I did not hear back from them for close to a month and a half after multiple emails. I was then asked times I could meet with the president, which I disclosed that day, and those time frames were not confirmed. After another month of waiting I was told the position was not going to be filled due to hour cuts for other instructors and the Department Head getting a promotion to a different position and that the new Department Head would receive my information, if and when an instructor was needed. I never heard back from them again. I went from getting a job (just signing the final paperwork), to being ignored to complete the process.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Boise, ID (took 1 week)
I was very apprehensive on the day of my interview due to my lack of experience teaching in formal setting as well as at an advanced level. The person who met with me first was very warm and informative. She excuded both a confidence and passion for her profession. She was very knowledgable and gave a great deal of insight into her management style which allowed me to decide if this was someone with whom I could have a relationship of mutual respect and growth. The instructors attending my teaching portion of the interview were attentive and respectful. I felt as though this was authentic as did all of my encounters during the extensive interview process.

Interviewed Dec 2010 (took a day)
After replying to an online advertisement for the job via an emailed copy of my resume, I was invited to give a mock (20 minute) lecture to a group of managers (Department Chairs, Associate Dean, Academic Secretary, etc). After the lecture I was interviewed one on one with the Associate Dean. The people were enthusiastic about ITT Technical Institute. The school itself is quite plain and seems to lack a feeling of academia.

Interviewed Feb 2009 (took 4 weeks)
Having to present to a panel should be a part of anyone who is expecting to be hired as an instructor. However, filling the room with people who have no idea what effective teaching looks like, is counterproductive, as there have been some who have not been successful in a presentation (due to initial nerves), who would have made excellent instructors if coached. Others...who were friends of current employees were hired, and are proving to be ineffective due to the expectations.

Interviewed Dec 2008 (took 2 days)
Inquired about a full time position I saw advertised, but it was filled already, so I was asked to come in for an adjunct instructor interview. Nothing interesting of note, except for the "demo" teaching for several staff members, who grade you on your performance. Then it's a matter of paperwork, waiting for the background check (month and a half or so), interview with the Director (speech giver who has no other purpose but makes nice $$). Constantly interviewing.... once you're asked to interview, piece of cake.

Negotiation Details
Offers are per course for adjunct instructors. Ignore the bonus... they put effort into making it very difficult to earn. People in class who clearly don't want to be there, and consequently get dropped for lack of attendence or because they fail.... it's on you.... even though you didn't recruit the students. Too bad... counts against you and your potential bonus.
