Hmm, I disagree with the last answer. I'd start with the question regarding the end use. Sometimes a client thinks that the rock is the solution to the problem with out knowing all the options available to them. It could be that what they're really looking for is a door stop.

First I would ask what cost range and then time frame.
Then, I would proceed and ask what size, what shape/dimensions, weight, what purity, specification in terms of defects and then ask what is the end use of this rock.
