Flip one switch on for 15 minutes. Immediately before entering the room, turn this off and turn one other switch on. The lamp that is on is the current switch in the "on" position. The one that is off and hot is the switch that was "on" for 15 minutes. The one that is off and cool is the one had never been turned on.

Interview Question for Associate Consultant at Mattersight:

If you were present with a room with 3 lamps in it, yet the switches for the outlets controlling these lamps were outside the door, how would you determine with switch controlled each outlet in only one attempt, assuming you could not see in the room while flipping switches?
