Microsoft Technical Account Manager Interview Question

I interviewed in Austin, TX and was asked:
"If your customer wants something before the end of the day and you know that it is impossible to get it to them, then your manager wants something done by the end of the same day, how do you handle that? Keeping in mind that you know it will be impossible to get it done."

Since it is impossible to get both done, I would present the time constraint to my manager and ask him which task he prefers I focus on.

If the manager's task takes priority, I would contact my client and give them an updated estimate of when I will have their task finished.
