Imperial Oil Remedation Project Manager (Recent Grad) Interview

Posted Nov 2, 2012 1 of 1 people found this helpful

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Calgary, AB (Canada) Sep 2012 – Reviewed Nov 2, 2012

Interview Details – The process consists of an online application and two subsequent interviews (1st and 2nd) Applied on the website and was contacted a couple of weeks after the submission deadline for the first interview. Since I was out -of-province, the 1st interview as a phone interview, full with behavioural questions in the STAR format. In about 1 more week I got an invitation for the 2nd interviews, which was in Calgary and Imperial Oil arranged for a hotel room and flights. My surprize was that the 2nd interview was also fully behavioural which seemed strange to me. No questions of any kind that try to dig down into you a bit more, but again the classic STAR questions, where you really have to give the right answer and all other answers will simply not get you the job.

Interview Question – When taking high risks, sometimes it is possible to have a failure. Have you taken a high risk, which has later worked fine, but initially you have questioned yourself whether it was worth to take the risk?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – Accepted another offer at a different place. Plus, after finding out the exact scope of work and the work environment, I decided to decline as it was not what I was looking for.

Other Details - I applied online and the process took 6 weeks.
