Interviewed Apr 2009 (took 4 weeks)
There's a competency interview, a fitment interview and an HR round. Typically, there is either a face-2-face or a videocon, with the initial one being on the phone. Depending on the job seniority, one can have 2 to 4 rounds before an offer is made.

Negotiation Details
Because of the recession & me being out of a job, I wasn't able to negotiate. However, the trend is push the candidate on level lower. Watch for that.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a Background Check.

Interviewed May 2010 in Chicago, IL (took 2+ months)
Initial communication is with the recruiter who sends it to the HR. HR sets up the interview. The interview starts on time but took 50% more time than alloted. It starts with the educational qualifications and then on to all the expereinces. very thought proviking questions are asked. Interviewer wanted to really understand the professional knowledge quite accurately. After that it was a behavioural interview. There were ten to twelve areas - customer orientation, persuation, ability to work in teams, ability to handle objections, ability to get things done, ability to build relationships. For each of these topics, one needed to give an example of a situation that happened in the past. It was quite detailed.
