Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Internap Network Services in February 2009.
Interview Details – The internal recruiting organization is rather poor, and doesn't seem to understand the business unit's needs very well. But once you get past the gatekeeper things go a lot better.
The staff interviews are pretty informal, and involved 4 different people. That part took just a couple of hours. The hiring manager talked some about the nature of the position, introduced the other team members who were involved in the interview, and then left us alone to discuss whatever came up. Each person had a different area of specialization that he/she focused on, but it appeared that the goal was to see if personalities meshed. Everyone was very forthright about answering questions about the company.
The work culture is pretty relaxed, but people take their responsibilities seriously. Lots of responsibility is taken by the front-line people in the department.
Interview Question – If you are in a situation where another department has promised to do something for you, and they repeatedly fail to meet the commitment, how would you handle it? If the person failing the commitments is higher up than you in the organization, would that make a difference? Answer Question
Negotiation Details – They seem to be severely limited by their HR department in terms of what they can change in their offers. The benefits package is excellent, however, so a slightly lower pay rate is more than acceptable if you consider the quality of life factors (like starting with 4 weeks of paid leave per year).
